The price is too high. He’s a good player but you’re just giving the Texans a couple Super Bowls.

Multiple Super Bowls really? And you have been loving having the highest paid running back in the league with no viable starting quarterback. Do you not like winning or what?

I still don't know how I feel about us acquiring Watson. We will be giving up a LOT, but on the flip if we get a top tier QB who can come in and immediately make a difference it could well be worth it.

Watson will immediately be the best QB we've ever had outside of Cam Newton's Super Saiyan year.  And hes only 26.  We could have one of the best QBs in the NFL for the next decade.  You do whatever you can when this situation presents itself (it never has before in the history of the modern NFL).

I dunno, I'm old and have the mindset that defense wins superbowls but, we've had some really good defenses here in Carolina over the years and zero rings, in fact we don't even have back to back winning seasons, I'm willing to try something different if it cost us a few defensive pieces

Exactly. He was basically putting up Kirk Cousins type numbers when the Texans we're actually competitive. His one elite stat season came when they went 4-12.

He's thrown for 4k yards twice and 3,800 while missing a game in another in essentially 4 seasons.  But what ever you have to tell yourself.

And, obviously, giving this franchise the death knell many expected from Tepper.

Well, we don't know what the official price is yet, so we don't know which players are going the other way. And I don't agree that this is guaranteed to ruin the franchise. The defense was rebuilt from scraps over the past couple of years, so it can be done again, although this time they'll have an elite offense to pair with it, not Sam mf Darnold.

The Texans are not gonna make the super bowl off of the picks we give them. Let's remember who we're talking about here.

Defense, unfortunately, does not win Super Bowls.  Offense does - powered by top flight QBs.  Chiefs with Mahomes, Bucs with Brady, Rams with Stafford.  When was the last primarily defensive team to win the Super Bowl?

And Brees was also coming off of an injury so severe that the majority of the NFl were unsure he would ever play again, so that isn't really even the same scenario.

It's unprecedented but the price is steep. I believe the prices for Stafford and Wilson should be the benchmarks though. I don't see logic behind paying drastically more.

I am leaning Watson (make the trade) but I see your points and must admit, they will be the first things that pop into my head if we sign Watson.   Good argument against the field.

...Actually, If he wants to win, CLE is the spot with all the supporting cast. They only need a qb to make a push to get to the next level.  If he wants to wallow in sht for four years come here or go to NO....

Things change quickly. You don’t make a decision like this for “who’s good in 2022.” You make it as “where is the best place to play long term.” Cleveland imo has never had that even when they have talent. They always just seem to bottom feed.
