No he couldn't. Did you watch the senior bowl? He ran away from those guys as well and they were NFL caliber with some first rounders. They even have their timed field speed and Willis was moving at least 2-4 miles per hour faster than the next fastest qb who was not Pickett.  Yall need to stop playing with Willis speed.

nah thats bullshit

pickett could beat him in a straight line race and Willis was dodging scrubs that make him look more mobile than he is

Who cares about a straight line race?? How often is that going to happen for our QB. Willis is far more elusive and quick than Pickett, he showed it at the Senior Bowl against the same competition. He showed it against Syracuse and Va Tech (same schools Pickett played in the ACC). Willis is this year’s Trey Lance (small school QB with huge upside but needs the right staff and probably needs to sit a year). He isn’t the QB that our staff needs to draft, but he has some great upside.

Based on this Zappe will be the choice for our RPO offense.

Honestly I’m thinking the best we can do (without Rhule ruining next year’s assets for our new coach), is trade low picks for Baker and draft a LT at 6. Don’t let Rhule extend Baker until AFTER the season. If he earns a new contract then that opens things up. If he struggles we let him walk at no expense to us. We have a promising OL and defense for our new coach and our early picks for him to draft his QB. Rhule gets his vet, our OL coach gets a great group of guys to work with and fans don’t have to watch Darnold again. This is all assuming the Browns eat a chunk of his salary too.

It's always either "there's no QB worth drafting" or "all the QBs will be gone before we pick". According to the Huddle it's never the right time to draft a QB.

To be fair last year was the year we should have drafted a QB. We could be now talking how we are going to draft a LT to protect Fields or Jones. We wiffed hard on that one.

I don't want to gamble at #6.

I see both sides, I really do.  You don't want to waste a pick on a guy you think has zero chance of making it but at some point a QB is almost always a riskier choice that one or more non-QBs.

For those that don't want to gamble on a QB this year, did you feel the same about Cam?

Also in the last 10 years how many QB would you have been ok gambling on?  Luck, Lawrance...

Even though we were not in position to pick one of them, they went before our pick.

In the last 10 years how many QBs that were available to pick at our spot were you willing to gamble on?

It's always a gamble. Y'all acting like a LT is a guarantee but just look at all the LT busts over the past two decades

Very true, fans have convinced themselves they are trading a 100% of being great for a 1% chance of being great.

Also people need to remember that although the LT probably does have a greater chance of being good, but even if they are they really only help your team a little bit compared to what being right on the QB does.

Was Cam Newton as much of a gamble as johnny Manziel?

If you remember very few here wanted him and it was considered a bad pick at the time by a lot of media. So a lot at the time many would've said yes. Lol

I’ve felt this way for awhile now

It is the best way to contain Tepper’s train wreck of a head coach

Get that tackle.  One of the three should be there.  Pickup Mayfield.  If he plays well in McAdoo’s system, then options exist in 2023.    Jimmy G and that throwing shoulder surgery, just say ‘no’.

Rhule is the gift that keeps on giving in oh so many  ways

I think Willis has so much potential  you can’t teach speed or arm strength but I just don’t see what he needs to thrive in Charlotte    If he had 3 more inches in height, prototypical .

It is conceivable with  McAdoo, that Willis is drafted at 6, and another train wreck of an old LT is brought in

I wouldn’t cry if Willis is the pick

Honestly, from the first time I saw him, he reminded me so much of Steve McNair   We should be that lucky

McNair attended Alcorn State  still bigger than Liberty but by no means an Auburn in competition either
