A better observation would be that turf is good enough for Charlotte FC, but not Chelsea. Why cater to a visiting team?

because charlotte FC is a literal trash irrelevant my little soccer league team. Chelsea have players on their team that cost more than every player/coach/trainer on Charlotte combined.

So ... Is the change back to grass just for one event and then back to turf? Does anyone know? Will he return to artifical to save (and make) $?

Chelsea refuses to play on turf.  So Tepper is putting it down just so they they will come play.  That’s it.   Then the grass goes away after Chelsea.

Pretty sure he addresses it not long ago.  Probably the presser before the draft.  Basically conceded it wasn’t the best choice for football…..but he has the concerts and all that jazz made it make sense.   He wants to do more than football for the community

which, I mean is probably true.  But it does reinforce the narrative that it isn’t about football and winning.  But him just growing his wealth.

oh yeah, its all for the community......

Hire a money man and this is what your get.
He does not care if Charlotte FC or Panthers win.
As long as they keep making money he is content.
That is why I am kinda worried Tepper will keep Rhule on even if we are the worst teams in the league.

I mean…..you might be right. This is terrible to think about. Richardson didn’t really give a crap either as long as he was cashing those checks.

Let me clear this up for you.

The MLS generally makes about 1 billion per year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

The NFL generally makes about 5.5 billion per year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

The EPL will be pulling down about 13 billion this year in sponsorship and broadcast revenues.

In America, we typically just don't "get" soccer.  In the rest of the world, it rules.

It would not surprise me to learn that Teppers ultimate goal is to flip the Panthers and Charlotte FC for an EPL team.  Would not surprise me at all.

I wouldn’t cry   I doubt any of us would

…read something awhile ago about soccer being a buffer for Tepper should cte ultimately end the nfl in the future
