Speaking objectively...

This is a really well administered trade when you look at what we gave up and what we're paying.

I understand this. From a long term perspective though, it wasn't the best move to make. You're going to lack key data to make some really important decisions next offseason.

desperation move. I don't mind the price of a 2024 conditional 5th, but doesn't feel like there's any sort of long term vision. What good does winning 8-9 games this year instead of 5-6 do?

exactly

They are making moves in the short term trying to save their jobs and tepper is letting it go down, fug them all

Unless Mayfield BALLS OUT, this will set us back at the QB position and muddy yet another draft next season. Foolish seems to be the #newnormal at 1 Panther Place

What would you rather them do?

This guy literally won a playoff game for the Cleveland Browns... The same Cleveland Browns who had like 30 starting QBs in the last 20 years. A million times better than Darnold and for just $5M and a conditional 5th. Phenomenal trade. Now just cut Sam and roll with Baker and Corral. No phony bullshit "competition" with Sam.

The more I think about it the more I like it.  It’s basically only one year of cap space for a conditional 5th in 2024.  If he plays well, awesome!  If not, bye!

The thing that’s most exciting is that our offense has been so bland and boring since Cam left.  There’s no energy.  No one gets hype.  Baker has attitude in spades, so seeing that will be a breath of fresh air from the stale BS we’re accustomed to

so we have one QB that sees ghosts and the other that's afraid to throw the ball to his WRs.

...coached by an OC who didn't like either of them the year they were drafted 😕

    • JC not this ish again.  Brees: 80,000 career passing yards 5 seasons of 5,000+ yards 10 seasons of 30+ TD passes Career completion percentage of 67.7% 37 games where he threw 4 TDs.  Best WRs were Colston, Thomas, Cooks, Lance Moore and TE Jimmy Graham/ Shockey. The only first rounder was Shockey (and Bush but he was a RB). Thomas was a stud... drafted with the 47th pick. That was the highest picked WR he threw to. 47th. Graham was a stud. Shockey was a stud. The rest of the receivers would have been jags on most other teams. Brees never had a first round WR to throw to.  Colston never even made a pro bowl. Oh, and no spygate to benefit from.  Prime Brees was UNBEATABLE in the dome. A bad day for Brees was 2 TDs. He was a 4d chess grand master.  Brees has a wallet that probably says bad mf’er. Bryce has a goofy ass backpack.  Listen, Drew Brees put up unreal numbers throwing to mostly jags in an era that highlighted running the ball, the receivers could get mugged and QBs got lit the f up on the regular without penalty. Hell, they went so far as to make a tv segment (jacked up!!!) to applaud the violence of the game. He never even had a first round WR. Brees was a better QB than Peyton Manning. There, I said it. Bro is on the short list for best QB ever.  This is facts with some of my own personal opinion mixed in, but mostly facts.  Those who keep pushing this narrative, did y’all actually watch Brees play? His game is in no way similar to Bryce’s. Brees on this team is a deep playoff contender and Tet would look like prime megatron.  Im sorry y’all, I know I sound like a complete homer, but when I hear hyperbole that is insultingly obtuse, it gets under my skin.
    • No, surely not. He's at least 4-9 if not 5-0!
    • That's cool but he should really get some help with producing these.  The content is good.  But it's like he's filming a 90's CRT computer monitor with his cell phone camera inside of his bathroom.
