Panthers shopping TMJ?

Not sure why some are downing last year’s draft because our second rounder has been injured.

All reports suggest Horn is exactly who we hoped. BC has been said to be the most improved player on the roster and is projected to start. Hubbard is a serviceable back and will play. Keith Taylor and Shi Smith have shown promise.

That looks like at least an average draft, and TMJ could show out if healthy.

Was really excited about the pick, but there were injury concerns prior and he was most certainly a Joe Brady guy.

So the 63 million dollar head coach and Scott Fitterer just let Joe Brady make the pick? They didn't want him?

I don't believe this. But we need to get him on the field catching touchdown passes. We draft this kid in the second round sign Robby Anderson to a good sized contract extension and then proceed to not even give TMJ a gameday jersey in the second half of the season when we had nothing to play for. So why are there people in this thread diving in front of Matt Rhule criticism again?

Everyone wants him to play up to his potential especially a coach on the hot seat. A some point he’s going to have to play through minor injuries and prove himself.

When it comes to the Rhule-circus that David Tepper created, I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Brady's friend's 3 year old daughter made the pick.

Some facts.

His high draft position pretty much guarantees his roster spot.

His lack of production gives his zero trade value.

His second round status has trade value. It might be a 5th or 6th, but there is value there. NFL teams do low risk, high reward trades all the time. See CJ Henderson. Or Baker Mayfield.

I'd say the 2021 draft is looking a little shaky at the moment.

Horn SHOULD pan out but after that it will depend on the rest of the group. TMJ isn't looking good and BC is a TBD. The rest of the draft appears to be largely JAG/depth guys that may or may not pan out. If we get 2 guys from that 4th-7th round group on second contracts as role players on second contracts, that's a passing grade. If we get a starter from that group, it's a great grade.

If TMJ and/or BC don't pan out, it isn't looking good for that class.

I get not wanting to count Marshall's injury against him, but the problem there is that when he was drafted, he was a known injury risk.

It's really starting to look like his body might not be able to take the pounding of the NFL.

Fair point, he was known to be injury prone. Sometimes the best ability is availability

For the record, I was saying “Rhule ruined him” half way jokingly because surely he must have screwed this up too since he underperformed last year, not just health wise.  The offense did not get the best out of our receivers and certainly wasn’t a good environment to develop a young rookie.

    • I would be quite surprised if he got more than a fine. Flopping has long been out of hand in the NBA. There were definitely some Heat players doing extra selling fouls. LaMelo seems to be getting quite a bit of hate on social media for the Bam injury though. And it is fair to wonder how the next opponent might defend him going forward knowing what happened. I don't think we can just be homers and dismiss it entirely especially after all the complaints we've made about the Pistons in particular. I think this group better be prepared for a very physical game on Friday.
    • When you look closely at the play it was careless from Melo but bang bang full speed I don’t think it was intentional or dirty or deserving of a foul. Bam’s off balance momentum was already carrying him towards a fall and even if Melo didn’t touch him it may have had the exact same outcome. And honestly I think he did try to sell it more when he felt LaMelo’s hand. Dudes arms flopped back instead of bracing for the fall. Sucks he got hurt but a suspension would be ridiculous and an awful look for the league. Fine and move on
    • Sure but it literally would be benching him lol, and it would kill his confidence. He’ll get back in a rhythm, kid just had an all time great rookie season and led the league in 3s, you gotta stick with him as starter. But yeah I’m all for getting some more lineups throughout the game with Coby and Melo   and yeah Miles’ block and Coby and others jumping him in celebration was fuging epic
