Is Tepper trying to humiliate Rhule?

Tepper gave him a third season for better or what has turned out to be worse. He probably figured he’d let him try to dig himself out of the mess he made. The hole is getting deeper and we’re all here to witness what it looks like to enter the NFL hell that the likes of fans of the Jets, Browns, Lions, etc, experience every year.

No Tepper just wants to say he gave Rhule a fair shot. It’s hard to sit at the other side of the table to defend your job when you had 3 years to do it. It also makes other HC candidates feel more comfortable, so they know you aren’t going to yank them out of their office after their first bad game.

Lol this is probably the most likely explanation.

Hardly, he’s applying the Steelers’ Coach philosophy, “never fire”.

Unfortunately for us, Tepper is retaining Rhule and not Knoll,Cower, or Tomlin.

Stubborn adherence to a rule that doesn’t really exist.

Check out Noll’s record of wins and losses especially the first three…

Noll also took over a franchise that had never played in the postseason before. In almost 40  years. And the only way to build a team was the draft. No FA. So it took longer. No comparison to now.

Gotta be honest....

How many good coaches would look at this situation and get excited?

Bad owner, no QB, possible new GM who you don't know.

I don't see Sean Payton, or anyone like him lining up for this one, unless Tepp overpays again.

I think at this point we should tank the season and get legit QB for the future.

I think that could be the inevitable outcome no matter if we try or not.

Purposely tanking never seems to work.  The Dophins tried that and couldn't pull it off a few years ago.  No matter how hard a team tries to be inept, some other team will be more inept just on its own merits.  Unfortunately, I think we are that "some other team."

Dolphins have looked pretty good this year. They traded away a bunch of assets in 2019 for draft picks. It  just took some time for it to come to fruition. The Tua injury might derail them, but I would push back on the idea they "couldn't pull it off".

    • Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15
    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
