What are we trying to accomplish?  For argument's sake lets just say PJ plays better than Baker.  Are we a contender?  I think quite clearly, NO.  So really, the best thing that could happen is the worst thing that could happen.  PJ leads us to a few wins we wouldn't have got otherwise.  Damaging our draft position, and GASP creating a possible bridge for Rhule to cross to another year.  No Thanks.  Accept this year is lost, stop looking for hope.

That is a loser mentality. You try and win every game. In a game where players put their health on the line every day and play despite injury and pain to try and win it is a huge disservice not to give your all. Clearly you haven't played anything at a high level or you wouldn't suggest such garbage.

We’ve had decent discussions in the past, by and large respectful, but this is a complete dick reply.  My post is legitimate.  You act like I’m the first person to ever suggest that not winning a few meaningless games is a bad thing.  Hell, Miami basically tried to do it openly.  Happens in MLB and NBA all the time….ALL THE TIME.  Let’s be honest, it happens plenty in the NFL as well.  Even when it isn’t sanctioned and influenced in the front office you better believe players are making business decisions for themselves on the field and certainly not giving your proclamined ALL ON EVERY PLAY.

You say I’ve never played anything at a high level?  I say you never have and you know nothing about me.  Your view is idiotic, short sighted and completely non realistic.

There was a way to do this without personal attacks and maintain some civility but you took it another direction.  Go F yourself.

You are right other folks have said the same thing and I put them in the same category as you. Do I need to know you to respond to your post? No. And if you had played sports at any significant level you would know that this might be a fan reaction but not a player one which is what I said. You can get triggered all you want but it doesn't change the fact that losing on purpose is a loser mentality. I didn't call you a loser simply your thought process and conclusions.

Just so we're all on the same page here, we're talking about this PJ Walker, right?

image.thumb.png.34a98da050c43e201397eb23d3c69aa7.png

The guy with a 4:1 INT to TD ratio?  Completing 56% of his passes?  With 3.4 air yards per attempt?  The guy two inches SHORTER than Baker Mayfield?

Frankly, nothing could signal "white flag" to the locker room any more clearly than starting PJ Walker.

I want no part in trying to lose. Football can not be played like that. As a player I would have to try to continue to improve and play my ass off. I would not want to play with someone who doesn't do the same. I feel there is something off when just about every ball is batted down and something mental. I like the way PJ can move and play. Let's put him in and give us a spark. Trying to lose is for losers.

Do not forget that Temple standout and XFL MVP Phillip Walker is our backup. He is 2-0 as an NFL starter and even though he is as short as Baker he can usually get passes off without having them smacked out of the air by opposing defenses. He is a little more mobile than Baker maybe and not named "Sam." Rhule did not commit to Baker as the starter following yesterday's loss. Should PJ get 1st team reps this week?

I think its worth considering. It provides a very small chance at shaking things up and making things more exciting worth losing the compensation (draft pick) from the Baker Trade?

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
