Wilks was 3-13 in the only year as HC and guess what, Arizona had the #1 pick and got Murray.

I still like our chances for the top pick and a QB.

In all fairness to Wilks, I didn't really think he go a fair shake... Regardless, I do think they will go a different route.

I like the idea of having an interim coach a lot more than I like the idea of Rhule going down with the ship.

An interim coach can do whatever the fug he wants, because he's always got the built in excuse that he inherited the team and the personnel.

If Rhule finishes out the season, he has to at least pretend he's still the Panthers coach of the future. So he can't change the personnel around too much, he can't change the gameplan too much, because he can't admit any mistakes.

Wilkes steps in, it doesn't hurt him to start Darnold over Baker. Hell, it doesn't hurt him to start PJ over either! It's not his team, it's not egg on his face, and in all likelihood, he won't be with the team next year.

So go nuts! Open up the last page of the playbook. Start the backup Center. Put the Punter in at Wide Receiver. Let's see what talent we've got on this team. And who knows? Without the burden of acting like Rhule's process was "so close" and was about to start working week over week, we might actually shake things up to looking halfway competitive!

😂 Rhule sucked but do they really have to cherry pick it so much to avoid the 3-0 start last year. I mean how many other stats are from random weeks last year? Second half stats, why not, but in the first 5 games of this year and last 13 of last year? It’s not even a 16 or 17 game season.

Glad he’s gone but damn CBS you don’t have to get creative to show how bad he was.

media gonna media. It's pathetic bc there are people who see that and think "oh wow... good call out CBS. Thank you for the valuabel information." and then walk away.

We still have the worst record since the halfway mark last year (week 9)

We have won 2 games in that timeframe.

It's not any better, it just takes away more losses

    • Fug Em!   Lil bastard was milking injuries most of his time here. The moment he leaves he's all of a sudden a workhorse RB and a MVP candidate.   *Poo me up I'm a big boy I can handle it.
    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
