Maybe our idiotic owner has learned more about hiring a head coach this time around. No more 7 year deals please. Just because he made the right move finally doesn’t mean he should be congratulated. It should have happened at the end of last season. He’s now wasted another year and the team has wasted more money on another useless QB who isn’t even a good stopgap. This next hire is extremely important to determining if Tepper is a complete trash owner or not. The results so far are not good.

oh sorry I thought it was clear

the media would gladly have us hire a black head coach who was bad at their job because it doesn’t concern them if the panthers are good or not, not a concern they’d extend to the Dallas cowboys or Pittsburgh Steelers

By "the media" you mean Stephen A. Smith?

Where was this pressure when the Cardinals fired him after one season?

11-27. in ink. record speaks for itself. I get many feeling relieved and even joy, but I think it's a sad day. what would even be a sign that Tepper's next head coach hire is going to go better than this one?

funny how Wilks seemed a logical fit for interim HC the moment he was hired. he's obviously qualified, but he's getting a "chance" in a born-to-lose situation once again. hope he galvanizes the team and makes a great case for himself as a "all the time" leader and not just a "eh we're screwed, put Wilks in charge" leader.

The problem isn't who is leading it's that the off season and camp was sabotaged and this team as a whole isn't built to win in the NFL. Rhule or not, that won't change this season.

One of two things absolutely will happen.

1. We suffer this season as we have been. Maybe steal a win or two more, look bad doing it.

2. We actually start looking better. Maybe we don't win much, but we look better and play better and it's more entertaining at least.

If it's the latter, then Rhule's philosophy and influence over his coaches was the problem. If it's the former, we have a problem with schemes, coaching, bad players, or any combined thereof.

We need this season to be over so desperately. And Tepper needs to never be involved with football again.

    • Night and day difference in the front office investements.  Since Morgan has been in the FO (5 years)....4 out of 5 first round picks have been offensive players.  The one defensive pick was a corner. Expand it out to the first 2 rounds? 7 out of the 9 picks have been offensive.  That IMO is why our D sucks so bad.   You build defenses up front.   Carolina hasn't been investing there.  Ron's first 5 years? 3 of the 5 first round picks were defensive players.  Expand it all to include second rounders  7 of the 10 picks were defensive.  All front 7 players.
    • I think he gets this year to show what he can do.  Last year, we had a lot of injuries. This year, we should have some players, even if we lose one or two.  It's the first preseason game.  Some of the starters weren't even in it.  There is no scheming or game planning.  Let's see how guys do when it counts. I think we have a GM that knows a thing or two about defense.  Let it play out.
    • I was ok with the mentor aspect of keeping Dalton, but wow has he fallen off the deep end. The slow behind the WR interception was awful. I keep hearing our WRs created no separation, but on that particular play dude was wide open and Dalton couldn't get it to him with a clean pocket. Next year, we need to address the backup QB spot haaaaaard!
