right.. so they had a 1st and goal.. then hit with a penalty... so they should have not only moved back 15yards but they should have had the yards adding to the downs to gain.

Again not how it works. The penalty came after a 3rd down play converting a 1st down.

It’s not technically 1st and goal before they spot the ball

I'd be sitting several guys from that defense on the fuging bench right now if I'm Wilks...  snd that probably includes Holcomb.  This poo is humiliating and demoralizing.

21 fuging plays.  Almost 12 fuging minutes.  1 fuging possession.

Absolutely pathetic.  I do not think I have seen a worse defensive series in all my years of watching football.  Yes, I have seen big plans blown on one bomb, team ran all over us for 10+ plays but that was BAD.  Looked like no one was trying to tackle anyone, they passed and ran AT WILL.

That’s just not how it’s ever worked.  It’s like on a kick return, penalty yards just push them back. Doesn’t become 1st and 15 or whatever, it’s 1st and ten, x yards behind the penalty

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
