Haha there are a ton of people who want wilks. It’s absolutley mind boggling. Like one of the dumbest things I’ve ever come across in my life following sports. The following he has is outrageous.

For once I just want to be a team where to beat us you dont just have to have more talent you also have to outscheme us and make better adjustments than us. Ive been a fan my whole life and feel like weve never had a coach that can steal wins beating better teams than us

It sucks when really decent good guys aren't the answer. Steve Wilks seems like a great guy. Sam Darnold seems like a great guy. But they aren't the answers.

If you want to compete for SBs you have to move on. Keep Darnold as a backup if we can, but there are no backup head coaches and with his support in the locker room you simply can't keep him on the staff. It sucks, but we have to wish him all the best and mean it and let Steve Wilks go.

Not sure why OP is getting flack… Are there really people out there that think Wilks should be the head coach moving forward?

Plenty of fans outside of this forum are screaming it. They also want to keep Darnold.....this is the only sane place i can find for fans. Smh

Lol what did you want him to do?

His best player gets traded.

He has an incomplete staff he didn't pick

His best QB was hurt ( how many games did Wilks have without Sam?)

He eventually loses the only two Corners he has and has to sign a Barista.

He didn't pick the offensive or defensive scheme he had to use Rhules garbage.

He didn't pick or sign any players again Rhules garbage.

He was given a huge pile of schit and asked to make a gourmet meal.

He has another season as a head coach we can look at also.  Point is, he’s never proven to be a great head coach or coordinator.  The only thing going for him is that he’s from Charlotte and the players like him.  I mean that’s great but after the years we endured under Rhule and the last few years of Rivera, it’s time to change the course around here

Ben Johnson, Ken Dorsey, and Shane Steichen.

and before I hear, what have they proven? What has wilks proven? What did Nick Siriani prove before he was hired? How about Zach Taylor? Kyle Shanahan? Sean McVey? What was Doug Pedrrsons track record before wining a super bowl in Philly?

Matt Rhule has a great track record of turning around programs too. How’d that work out?

Grass isn’t always greener.

For the record I’m not saying we should or shouldn’t retain him but to shoulder the blame solely on him for our woes is simply asinine.

Give me Ken Dorsey all day.  Everywhere he's gone, it's been magic.  Namely his years with Cam, and now Josh Allen.  I believe Ken Dorsey is the majority reason why Buffalo is doing their thing.  People don't realize how raw Josh Allen was in his first year.  Then overnight, Dorsey made him a superstar.

I wanted him to win games that were decidedly winnable, like the ones against the Steelers and the Bucs, or at the very very least have a believable competitive showing. And I don't in any way believe that was too much to ask.

Wilks let some others get away, but I'm giving him a pass for games a little closer to the time he took over as transitions can be difficult. I'm trying to be fair and less subjective.

Wilks though mildly surprising has also been disappointing and decidedly ordinary at the times we needed him to be extraordinary

I hate to beat a dead horse, but Harbaugh could do that.

Can't really count Arizona, he got screwed. Couldn't pick his coaches, couldn't pick his draft picks and got stuck with Rosen.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
