Interesting twist regarding Lamar Jackson...

I haven't read it or seen it anywhere else across the numerous threads, but was listening to ESPN radio while taking the kids to school, and they shared that Peter King said the Ravens are very likely to use the non-exclusive franchise tag on Lamar, meaning it would only require the contract plus 2 first-round picks. That's also very different than the "windfall of picks" stuff we heard about previously.

It seems a more realistic possibility than the "windfall" talk.  Still, giving up the picks plus the mega contract is scary for a team trying to build out its roster, but does that change how you feel about the possibility of Jackson?

Fffffuuuucccckkkkk no.

The guy still wants a hell of a lot of guaranteed money and it’s reported that he and the Ravens are 100 million apart on negotiation.

He has missed 10 games in the last 2 years. I’m good.

Not really. Jackson’s a good player but injuries are starting to factor into his availability the last few years. I think a younger QB with better accuracy is what will work better for Reich’s system but that’s JMO.

Again, If the Ravens (who are a smart team) don't think he's worth the money and are considering letting him go, that's a big red flag. So no, I'm not doing it.

Now we wait for a certain poster to come in and point out that he won the MVP four years ago which apparently makes him the greatest player of all time 🙄

He also doesn't have an agent so it's apparently been a headache to negotiate with him which is why they are so far apart. 

Browns really screwed the market up with Watson.

I mean, I've already said it in so many words, that we don't exactly know what the number is. We are just hearing noise at this point. The devil is in the details.

The two firsts are the cost of doing business. That part of the deal means basically nothing in the acquisition of a franchise QB.

 It would require a bunch of digging from our front office. It's more going on from both sides that none of us know. Ed Reed spoke on the fact that Baltimore  has a great front office but feels Lamar needs a change of scenery  because  he feels slighted. Some speculate that he really didn't want as much as drawn up and just wanted out no matter what. I'll say this tho, with Wilson and Watson contracts last offseason  and their performances after... Any team trading for him has valid reasons to negotiate a better contract.

      Read the first line of my post---then read your response.  A few points---I acknowledge that I have not seen the players on the field yet, something you seem to point out in order to attack my opinion--that is what I call going full  Richard Cranium.  I state that he did not get bullied (trade values don't need performance criteria--they make trades without knowing the performance in the draft--should not have to explain that to you).   He did not get bullied like the trade up last year.  He got us a second rounder back.  How is that like Fitterer last year?  I'll wait for you to answer, but I do not think you will--effectively using things called "facts"

      Seems like a legit HC candidate could wind up in Charlotte.  Lakers and Wizards also need a coach, but there are some big names floating out there. Darvin Ham, Buddenholzer, JJ Reddick, Kenny Atkinson, Jerry Stackhouse… Who ya like to *develop* this young team?

      While I think it'd be silly for anyone to argue that Mahomes wouldn't have done any better here (and is obviously leagues above Bryce), it's worth mentioning...I watched the Raiders/Chiefs game late last year and man did Mahomes and that offense look like absolute trash in a game where Mahomes was continuously running for his life behind an o-line that couldn't block for poo, while trying to throw to receivers getting zero separation, and getting zero help from his run game.  You know, the norm for Bryce every week.  It really did look like I was watching a Panthers game.  That was a game against Aidan O'Connell with a final stat line of 9/21 for 62 yards 0 TDs and yet Mahomes and the Chiefs managed 7 total points up until 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter in arguably garbage time.
