I don’t really like being put in a “crowd”. But if I must be in one, then let it be called the “we have some common sense” crowd.

These trade ups where you pretend you won’t need that 1st rounder the next two or three years, giving paying that for never played in tne NFL quarterbacks…. who are they? They are not spoken of in the same terms as Maye, Williams, and guys from the past that people Knew were going to be really good pros. They are low percentage long shot ridiculous gambles that rarely payoff. If people want to be the old Saints, the old Bengals, Browns,  keep rolling that way.
Man there are a couple of guys who could have good careers maybe, if they don’t go to a team barren of resources to invest in making a better team around them.

We were a .500 team with Wilks. I don’t think this staff would allow us to draft high enough to get one of them.  Even if we sign a bridge QB it’s mostly the same team as last year with better coaching. Hopefully 1-2 upgrades spots Aswell. Really expecting a winning season this year even if it’s just 9-8z

You can’t bank on things that are no where close to happening yet…what if Drake Maye bombs and Caleb has a down year? Then it turns into “well wait till next year…” (again)

I mean Stroud and Young were talked about like Caleb and Maye this time last year and had good seasons and it’s still this way. More eyes and more tape on players always seems to unveil more blemishes and lowers opinions. Has happened to numerous players.

Maye lost his OC and it’s going to be a pretty sizable adjustment will be interested how that goes. If Caleb can’t win anything again next year does that lower people’s opinions?

Always fascinating to watch it play out.

The Huddle before the 2021 draft "Wait until 2022, let's be patient and we will end up with an even better QB than any in this class like Spencer Rattler or Sam Howell"

The did the same for this draft with Van Dyke (disappointed and stayed another year), Young, Stroud, Levis, Richardson (didn't play as well as projected), Rattler (again), some where high on Haener etc....

Last draft it was wait til next year even though we took Corral. This draft is wait til next year even though Stroud is just as good if not better than Maye and Williams. Next draft will be wait til next year for someone on here. GO GET STROUD. When you have a shot at a possible ... yes possible ... elite QB you go get him. Stop waiting. Stop second guessing. Get the damn kid.

    • By all indications, the surgery was "minor." I know with all surgeries and especially back surgery there can be complications, but I think the whole time Tremble did this with the expectation he would be able to be back for Week 1 It sounds like he will be ready to start back in team drills next week. He's a veteran who knows the system so I'm sure that helps. I still can't imagine he will play a normal workload early on though
    • Maybe. He was pretty good in college before a bad injury. He had a good preseason last year as a UDFA in Washington and was on their practice squad all year so they obviously saw something worth developing. He signed a futures deal with the Panthers earlier this year, and everything about him has been increasingly positive. Tremayne has gotten a decent amount of time with the ones, and a lot with the twos for someone that doesn't have a chance. He's the only other 6'4" plus WR on the team, plays ST, and is a more natural backup to the X receiver position than David Moore. That was my thinking behind it. But he may well end up as one of the last roster cuts. If so, I do hope they can bring him back to the PS. But I personally think there's a good chance he could be claimed given his ST ability and what hes shown at WR.
    • That was my thought originally, but so many of the beat writers have mentioned keeping 7 WRs in conversations that I went with that, at least for the purposes of this projection. But you're right that historically defensive guys who were standouts at ST have tradionally gotten those last spots
