The Referees are the Reason we are Here

That falcons game, the one that really kept us from the playoffs. The bullshit call on DJ. If we win that game, most likely we make playoffs, wilks is still here and we are stick with darnold. We would have picked near 20 and no way to move up. DJ still here. Keeping a coach/manager certainly hasnt worked out for the Phillies this far. So thank the refs.

In part yep, i dont feel they would still won enough.

SIde note - few weeks back I tired to bummed one of those " Keep Wilks threads, hes a winner rah rah"

Within 7 seconds it was locked and then removed from the front page.

Been great for the forum LOLLOlollolls, loads of fun, but i guess whoever did it thought having 95 stroud/youngs was better.

@Ricky Spanish can you help?

That's one of the reasons we are here. The main reason is because we retained Rhule for the first 1/3rd of the season. Had we kept him the full season, we would probably have that first pick without the trade.

There's no guarantee Tepper would keep Wilks just for making the playoffs. I still think a win or two would be necessary.

However you want to spin it, I'm ready and excited for what's next.

I think you are right about tepper not keeping wilks even if he made the playoffs.

I also think when they interviewed wilks and asked " who do you have in mind for OC"

wilks- "frank reich....."

"Anyone else?"

"hmmm keep mccado......mike shula?"

Then they interviewed frank and he was like " i havnt not talked with steve and here are my 8 choices for OC"

Im also on the hype train for this coaching staff, best in history and now they got to prove it.

If we didn't fire Matt Rhule we could have had the #1 without trading anything

Had we not hired Rhule at all we’d have Herbert. Had we promoted Beane and McD instead of clung on for dear life like idiots to Rivera and Hurney we’d be the Bills. Had JR not sexually assaulted people on a weekly basis and buy his way out of prison we will still have our 1 out of 3 winning seasons. Had Tepper hired help and not treated the franchise like a toy wanting a pat on the back for figuring out what people already knew, we wouldn’t be in the middle of not only this franchise’s worst stretch but top NFL losers for the past five years…I could go on and on.

One catastrophic decision after another is why we only have a few teams we are thankful we are not. But as we say…keep pounding. I mean, it is what it is.

Whats your guy’s point?

I still don't understand why Hurney didn't trade up for Herbert. He wanted Herbert from what I remember, so why not move up a few spots to insure you land him?

The Panthers have a long history of getting jobbed by the refs, and the DJ bs call I'm sure was sent in to the league and added to our pile of busted bs calls.

I've been saying we were going to take a QB in the first round of the 2023 draft since we first brought in Darnold, and now it's happening. Thank you refs.

Reports were that Hurney wanted to trade up for Herbert, but Matt Rhule didn’t. I think the first couple drafts Matt Rhule had pretty much all the power. I have a feeling some of that power was reduced last draft based on how he treated Corral.

    • As long as Morgan is the GM, Young will be the QB. Young is 100% Morgan's guy. The contract extension is pretty much guaranteed unless Young suffers a career ending injury this season.
    • People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along. As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.
    • i lived in Atlanta from 84'to 92' & back then it was indeed a very different time without the internet & access to information 24/7. shortly after i moved back home to western NC around 93' or 94' the Carolina Panthers were awarded an NfL franchise & began their inaugural season in 95' so ike you i have seen the Carolina Panthers, ,the NFL ,technology, fans all evolve over the many a moon & years now some for the better & others not so ...just saying
