Edge rushers must not be looking good in camp, i said it was a issue right after the draft and people really want to get rid Burns and still be competitive at the same time.

Think about that foolishness for a second.

Every single one of these loudmouth Panthers fans that scream about the first round picks we turned down would be frothing at the mouth when they saw our putrid pass rush post Burns trade. And if and when he lit it up in L.A. they would be calling for Fitterer's head. It's easy to make plans for some picks years from now. Not easy to sit and watch and live with the results in the meantime.

Love it for '23 and helps bring a vet to the locker room that can help the younger guys learn the position from an All-Pro.

He won't be our every down backer but will add a new wrinkle to Evero's D. DJ, and Barno are probably a year away still. Take the pressure off them and YGM for this year and let them be Houston's shadow all year.

Bunch of chicken littles sheesh. The plan all along could have been to sign one of the FA guys and they were just waiting for the price to be right with the right guy at the right time. Was anybody expecting a 3rd round pick to come in right away and be a 3 down edge? That’s on you. Was anybody expecting YGM and Haynes to be immediate pro bowlers switching from 4-3 to 3-4? That’s on you. And this may shock some people, but Burns may not play literally 100% of defensive snaps. At his age, Houston is another good rotational piece. That’s about all we can say.

Oh my gosh 😮...only if you could get by on not having to pay top players in the league big money it would be so much easier to build championship teams am i right? Too bad it doesn't work like that..

They must really dislike what they’re seeing at OLB opposite burns and Haynes back must be a concern

He played a rotational role in Baltimore last year, only started 1 game but played in 14 and had 9.5 sacks.

He will probably be used in run packages. He is the heaviest edge we have by far. 6’3 and 270.

I was anticipating this. Not Houston specifically, but someone at OLB/DE

I don't think people have been paying attention to the trend of seasoned vets with stuff left in the tank essentially waiting for Training Camp to conclude/almost be over before they sign. Happens every year now, vets hate TC.

That was my main thought they could have had this agreement in place for two weeks at 34 he doesn’t need training camp just a couple weeks to ramp up his conditioning. This will give him about 4 weeks of practicing to get ready makes very good sense for both parties involved. He definitely doesn’t need that Spartanburg heat to prepare for the season just a couple weeks with the playbook and he should be good to go.

    • I wouldn't be opposed to trading for Sanders and seeing if he could be developed here. We have zero plans, and I really don't think it would take Sanders long to produce more than Bryce has. Plus, he's on a 5th round rookie contract and if he became the guy, you instantly have three years to build a core of talent, much of which we already have.  I get flamed for this opinion but it is what it is, and I've been right about these type of things the past three years.  I said Nix would be a good NFL QB. Wanted to keep Darnold and trade down in 2023. Said QB play wasn't the QB's fault under Rhule, but rather the offensive design.  Give me Sanders in the room for a year with Bryce and Dalton, see what he can develop in to on the cheap. There are no really quality QB's coming out this year that aren't Allar or Manning, and Manning may not even be coming out.
    • basically if the panthers trade Thielen they're not trying to win this year. I mean they're not going to regardless but this means its the plan not to.  no team is going into the season in 2025 with 80 career catches between their top 3 healthy WR.  you'd be turning this from a bottom 3rd of the league offense to like the nathan peterman bills pair that with a defense that is most likely going to struggle, and they're looking at 2001 again.
