Run the Ball Reich

Because they will "ram it up the gut" on 1st and 2nd down, then throw out of the shotgun. You have to mix up play calls out of the same formations to keep the defense off of their mark, similar to what allowed Sam to really thrive in 2022.

You don't run out of an under center look and then go shotgun to throw every time like we saw. There is zero flow to play calling right now and it's like Reich is shooting from the hip. They need to get Bryce comfortable with running the pass game and run game from under center.

This guy knows his football

Sanders looks like he is running through mud and Chuba can't catch out of the backfield. The "offensive line" is supposed to be better run blockers then pass blockers, haven't seen it. As it stands now, they are a subpar group.

Cant sustain a running game by constantly going up the middle for two yards.

Just the reality of the situation.

Reich did try to run the ball last night but wasn't successful on 1st or 2nd down and expected Bryce to save us on 3rd and long. I think the real issue is our interior offensive line. Christensen is done for the year, Corbett is out. We got a rookie and an undrafted free agent at both guards. These guys were beat left and right and couldn't open up any holes for Sanders. Philly's line is one of the best in the league and any RB can run behind it.

This team is devoid of talent at the moment and I do blame Fitt for lack of depth at positions.

The entire opposing D is within 10 yards of the LOS most plays. We had a 3rd and 9 last night and the Saints had 9 men on the LOS and the safeties were standing at the first down sticks. Until we can create some sort of down field threat life is going to be very difficult on offense. Defenses are just keying on the run and short passing game because that's all we've been able to execute so far.

Which is why it's so weird we're not trying to stretch the defense horizontally.  We don't have the personnel to stretch vertically (arguably do with Mingo and Chark meeting potential), but are still running triangle concepts that the defense is easily diagnosing.

I have officially given up on TMJ however.

Reich was able to open guys up in the middle of the field for Rivers and Wentz with that Hi-Lo and mesh stuff and we're just not really doing any of that.  Lots of snag routes or plays where everyone's leaning one way and ~one guy to dump off to the counter.  We're just not not isolating the right guys or designing for favorable matchups with our personnel.

And then in that, without the ability to get decent separation, the 3 on 2s Reich likes to make get obliterated pretty quickly with Marshall tripping on his dick.

My take is that we absolutely need Shenault in there right now along with a burner RB; need to have a hard focus on stretching things out to open the flat for Bryce.

They gave us all these fluff pieces (like below), but reality is, Reich is still just using Reich.  Very little from the McVay/Shanahan tree.

19 rushes total with only 10 coming from your $24 million running back isn't going to win games Reich. Get it together.

Sanders didn't need more touches.  Hubbard did.  He didn't get a rush until the 4th quarter.   And he drastically out played Sanders week 1.

I wish people would stop referencing Darnold last year like he had some come to Jesus moment with Wilks.
Any person with a lick of sense would see that Wilks and co did everything they could to make Darnold not a factor because they couldn’t trust him.
Also the Saints game.

They did what would make Darnold successful, which is play action pass. And guess what? Bryce has the LOWEST QBR in the league right now which, to my best recollection, Sam never had, even with the poo show that was the Jets with Gase and Rhule here.

So there is that. Flame Darnold all you want but he was Top 10 in QBR down the stretch, and we won that game against the Saints, unlike last night, because of Wilks philosophical change on offense.

You've disproven your own argument now run along, you have a Bryce Fan Club meeting at noon.

Yea I didn't understand the lack of Hubbard this week.

He was in mostly on 3rd downs and obviously passing plays, the great receiver that he is.

Exciting to see if Cohen is back. Definitely will be an adding boost to this offense.

May need to revise your opinion on Hubbard.  He was our second leading receiver last night.  Here's the stat line:

In fact, Chuba has caught all 7 of his targets this year.
