Inquiring Teams told Burns not avaiable

God forbid we surround Burns with a few more pieces so he isn't double/triple-teamed.

Not mad about this decision unless a Rams-sized offer was turned down for him. Give him an OLB opposite him and a NT worth a poo and he will thrive. The front seven is more like a front-3 lately.....and even Luvu has cooled off a tad.

They are driving up the price for the bum by saying he "isnt" available.  Everyone is available for a price minus Mahomes.

Just like when they said they werent trading McCaffrey. This also helps them save face if an offer comes. They can say they didn't want to but this offer helps the team going forward  etc. Regardless,  we can't pay him 30 plus, with the status of this team atm.

I don't think Burns wants to play for us.

He really isn't playing for us.

He's not going to really play for us.

So, yeah, let's keep the guy against his will. Better to ask him where he wants to go and call them and see if they are willing to give us anything at all to avoid the inevitable franchise tag, hold out and overpayment for an underperforming and under-motivated player.

Sheeesh, I really like(d) the guy, but man he has disappeared since the contract dispute.

This reminds of the Peppers issue in 2009 when we tried to trade him and ultimately he walked for nothing.

Can’t even say hindsight, most here knew the CMC, the trading up & the not trading Burns were real bad for football business.. Dude is 0-3 on decision for top-tier players/picks…

Fitterer now reminds me of the kid from a story when I was a kid..

Kid has a dollar, another kid walks up & offer to trade his 1 dollar for 3 quarters, well, yes I’ll take 3 to 1.. another kid comes up & offers 5 dimes for the kid’s 3 quarters, he takes the deal. 4th kid approaches with “I’ll give you 6 nickels for your 5 dimes” and the last kid offers 10 shiny pennies for those 6 nickels, which he gladly took, thinking he was making out. He traded his 1 whole dollar for $.10… I love my Panthers fandom…..

Lol. This is not huddle rage. It’s amazing that after proven wrong you have to post this in a completely different thread.

Detroit, Miami, Jacksonville and the Jets have all made star player for multiple firsts/tanking moves in the past 3-4 years and all of them have gotten better and 3 of them look like potential perennial playoff contenders. Jets just haven’t had QB luck but they are still a better team. We, on the other hand have been handing out picks like candy and not committing to a rebuild. Guess who’s the worst team of the 5?

You are so cute.

I wanted him to follow Rhule out the door but most had convinced themselves that Rhule was the root of all issues.

To that I say, well... how 'bout now?

To which I'd answer...we still don't know.

This offseason was bound to have a fair amount of roster turnover due to changing systems on both sides of the ball. And despite the insistence of some that they can predict entire careers after watching just a few snaps of preseason play, you can't judge draft picks this early.

I know people want to b-tch about the team getting their hopes up and whatever, but the reality is any unrealistic expectations for what was always going to be a rebuilding season is nobody's fault but your own.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
