Kyle Brandt tells people to "pump the brakes" on calling Bryce Young a bust

No way!  Didn't you know that an entire player's story is told in less than a full season!?

The reality is that the Panthers look like poo.  Not even a good solid log.  Instead, they look, feel and smell like something that happens after a hot day of eating tacobell and hot dogs from a gas station all day.  We are pretty horrible.

Bryce hasn't been as advertised - he can't carry the entire team on his back.  While some would love to get Doc Brown's time machine to redo draft night - the reality is we have to deal with him and support him the best the team can.  Bryce isn't a bust.  He's a rookie.  I do think that Bryce has tools to be a very good QB, but he needs help.  He's not getting much right now.

We need to see two years.  This year should be all about developing Bryce.  Next year needs to be the year we make progress.  Or else we'll be back looking for a coach, watching college QBs, and having lost even more time as a fan.

Does not matter really what you call him because he is screwed either way. He isn't good enough to overcome the ownership, FO and coaches and nothing is going to magically improve this offseason with the same people in charge.

Ok. Now trade him for what they spent. I'll wait on his current value. Nothing definitive but a sure gauge of which way that is going.

He had a bad game on Sunday. OK, it happens. Look at his best and it's a huge let down to very concerning. Combine that with the fact he is already screwed regardless and none of this is surprising.

cherry picking other qb rookie seasons is just a cheap and simple take

Agree. I’m sick of hearing comparisons to historical outliers. Aikman, Elway, Brees, Manning. Those guys are among the best to ever play the game. There’s nothing to compare and it’s really irrelevant to this discussion.

I agree but that includes the other QBs from Bryce's class. Everyone's situation and development timeline is going to be different. Point is half of a rookie season isn't enough to draw conclusions about any quarterback whether that's Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
