Steve is a great guy, but the 49ers defense has been significantly underperforming for a while now since he took over.

Yet their in the superbowl. A goal all teams have, yet only 2 make it to.

Defensive and offensive ratings are great. Fantastic.

The only stats that truly matter, is the wins and losses column.

So, seems like you're just looking for something negative to say about him and the work that he does.

Good job.

Good job.

But it is the truth. Yes, they are in the Super Bowl but Wilks defense was getting gashed in both the Packers and Lions game in the run.
Lions and Packers just decided to stop doing what worked.
Same thing happened a few times during the season. Especially during the losing streak.
Wilks is a great guy but he is an average DC that is greatly helped by being on a team that is stacked defensively.

Tepper has decades of hardheadedneas over York and outside of football has been successful and wealthy. It’s not the same. I have very little faith Tepper will change in his lifetime.

As far as Willks, he’s a good coach but not for HC. But what he’s saying is spot on, and he’s been around enough to be credible in identifying poo ownership.

Steve Wilks defense can beat Mahomes and Panthers fans will find a way to say he didn't contribute at all.

Wilks go win that SB man im rooting for you!

If SF wins 41-38, you can say his defense didn't beat Mahomes and still like the guy and be happy for him. The defense holds Reid and Mahomes to 10 points and then youve got a real discussion about how his defense was key to winning the Super Bowl. It will all depend on the outcome, even if they win.

The goal is to win a SB why does the score matter?

He's the last DC left standing. Give the man his credit regardless if the Chiefs score a lot of points. You're basically proving my point as to why people will have excuses win or lose.

The Tepper's don't know crap about football. If they would have left it alone,we would have won division.

If there is a glimmer of hope its that York was once considered a  meddling owner who was despised by his fans.

He's also in some heat for insider trading right now.

Exactly this point. As I watched this I kind of laughed to myself thinking "When the 49ers have bad seasons those same owners are being called to sell the team, not genius world-class owners."

This is the sports world we live in. lol

Yes all I hear on the radio is how his defensive scheme is the weak spot on the 49ers and if they loose it will be b/c of him and they will find a different DC.  Honestly though everyone that wanted him as a head coach has to realize anyone could coach young and with his physical limitations its not gonna get much better.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
