Canales "I'd like to take the pressure off the quarterback to be a part of what the offense is doing rather than a feature of it"

I mean, he sounds smart and all-in, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters is the product on the field.

He's so positive, I kinda feel like he's shooting sunshine up our ass all the time. Admittedly, it may be a personal problem. We're in a honeymoon phase. We'll see what he sounds like at the beginning of November.

Blah blah blah. In theory that sounds wonderful, but If you don't have a legit---and I mean LEGIT--- franchise QB, you ain't winning any hardware.

Winning SB sure.....but we need to get back to simply enjoy winning games again. The SB or nothing mentally isn't fun for anyone and laughable for Panther fans to have.

So if our "franchise QB" isn't the main "cog in the wheel".....then he is not a franchise QB.

Just a so-called "game manager". If that is the case, he wasn't worth what they gave up to get him.

The best thing he and Morgan can do is build the roster and not worry about tailoring anything in the draft for Bryce. Bryce being the number one pick means he should be able to elevate the play of those around him (given he has better protection than last year). If he can’t, then he will fade but at least Morgan and Canales will have begun the building process of restoring the roster for the next guy.

we don’t need to go into this draft with the mindset of  adding a piece because he would work with Bryce well. We need to add good football players across the board.

    • I believe you are correct. Everyone remembers that record setting drubbing of the Broncos but that was the highlight of their season. They have very good coaching overall and they have a ton of talent. With a better QB they could have knocked off the Chiefs IMO. We aren't even in the conversation of the Dolphins until proven otherwise. We couldn't even get in the end zone against the lowly Chicago Bears. We got shutout and blown out by the CJ Beathard led Jaguars for fugs sake. We can't even compete with bad teams let alone run up the score on them. To me if I'm being completely realistic if I'm the GM and my job is on the line and I feel like Tua is Bryce Young's ceiling I'm drafting QB in the first round next year unless he just magically has a season like Stroud did last year. That's it. I'm genuinely not trying to be abrasive about this it just gets really mind numbing eventually that we keep lowering the bar down down down down down and it's like hey it's fine to have expectations. And if you have a young QB in his prime and he isn't giving you at least prime Jake Delhomme arm talent it's time to keep looking for a QB.
    • Not exactly.  They show that Jones was making the most of the opportunities he had.  I was never a fan of his, but I think that the talent level in NE last year is somehow escaping the massive negative attention it should have received.  That team was terrible - especially the talent and coaching on offense - and everyone was still afraid of the wrath of hoodie. He'll have a chance to restart his career at some point.  He was a middle of the pack QB as a rookie.  Plenty of teams out there would love to make it up to middle of the pack at QB.
    • Didn't he not beat a winning team all season while putting up pro-bowl numbers?  Faster, better arm, bigger....still a weak point for his playoff team with all of that talent around him. People are so twisted up in the Panther fan base that they can't tell how ungrounded they are at this point.
