The clear favorites currently for #1 pick right now:

- Shedeur Sanders QB

- Travis Hunter CB/WR

- Cam Ward QB

-- As of now there doesn't seem to be a Myles Garrett/Nick Bosa DE.

-- Will Johnson CB and Mason Graham DT both from Michigan are extremely solid blue chippers, maybe not #1 pick but top 5 caliber at least.

-- Tetairoa McMillan WR Arizona may be the best WR, Mike Evans type. Strongly doubt he'd go top 5 though.

I agree with everything you said. Exactly how I view the draft.

Trade back. Morgan did well negotiating trades last spring, he will get a good return. I would hope good enough to have a 8-12 range pick and get back in the bottom quarter of the 1st round.

I haven't looked at the players but it is defensive BPA to me three times at least. We need everything.

Deion and Shadeur have telegraphed that they will try to get Shadeur to Vegas and it appears Mark Davis is interested as well. If Carolina is in position to take advantage of that with the no.1 pick, then I hope Morgan is smart enough to take advantage of that with a Ricky Williams-level haul of picks for a trade.

Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.

We can't let the Bryce mistake cause us to make another one by passing on a QB at #1 just because we're afraid to make another mistake.

I also disagree that this QB class is weak at the top of the draft. I think both Sanders and Ward are legit franchise QB prospects. I'd prefer trading down and still landing one of them if we end up picking #1, but I'd make sure we come away with one of them regardless.

I'm phrasing this in a way, not for who you want. But sort of simulating what the panthers might do. What would Morgan/Canales/Tepper do if we go 1-16 who would we draft #1?

And another question,  who would be the #1 free agent they would be targeting. Or which position would it be? This year it was definitely interior o line.

I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, but, trade the #1 overall to Denver so they can go get Shedeur.

Denver is only 30ish miles away from Boulder. Their organization would love that.

We won't be drafting Sanders.

That said, we'll probably try to under Tepper's orders and it will be a total clusterfug.

I have little faith that we will draft the right guy, though. Has more to do with the Tepper's getting involved than anything.

No matter what we do in the first, I'll have the same feelings of dread I do when Bryce walks on the field.

    • Like that matters. That's the first thing. I suggested that it's probably better to let a QB sit and learn, and that's what I meant. Secondly, in what planet am I making excuses, my friend, or engaging in any mental gymnastics in Bryce Young's defense? As I have said, I don't care if he turns into Mighty Mouse, it's time for him to go. In my opinion, he's too short to be a successful QB in the NFL. I have seen enough. I'd rather trade him and take my chances with Hooker, at least he's more of a prototypical size and can actually see where and why he's throwing the ball.
    • There is a scenario where our team comes out prepared to play football instead of shitting the bed for the first quarter. Every bad Bryce game seems to start with him looking incompetent - the OL looking incompetent - and the defense looking incompetent.  Boom, down 14 before we know what hit us. Imagine a world where we come prepared and play with a lead, and Bryce gets to fulfill his ceiling by managing a game instead of playing catch up. He's bad, but upon reflection he is not Clausen bad.  He can move the team down the field when he gets 4 - 5 seconds in a clean pocket against a soft zone.  I don't think Clausen could do that.
    • You are literally naming almost entirely instances where they are sitting behind a well established if not star player that was already on the team. That's a different scenario entirely.  Listen, if you want to make all the mental gymnastics for excuses, have at it. I think the facts are clear, Bryce Young is not an NFL caliber player. Furthermore, no amount of pine time nor change of scenery is likely to change that.
