I'm okay with the pick if they trade out of the 8th spot.

Bro he might not even make it to 8 once the evaluation and combine happen for this kid.  A supposed freak athlete that is an animal in both the pass rush and stopping the run as well as a 4.0 gpa and team leader.   Watch that highlight tape, he is assassinating both guards and tackles.

They better know how to use him.   They loved Chinn too, and then he was a man without a position and we let him walk 4 years later.  The biggest reason they might want him is they can move him around and send him or drop him--causing confusion for the OL--He is a Swiss Army knife--is Evero in the Swiss Army or is he going to use it to whittle?

The big difference, imo, is that he is a very good sized player that do many things at a very high level. So you don’t have to create a role for him like you had to with Chinn. Walker can already be dropped in to multiple current roles and excel at them.

That side of the ball needs a new leader and he would fit the bill and then some

If this is true, it suggests that the Panthers can't keep their mouths shut.  First, XL announces that he is going to Carolina.  Then on Hard Knocks, Schoen (or a member of his team) states that the panthers are going RB in round 2 before their pick.  Now this.

Morgan--reel em in.  Transparency is not to your advantage.

There were other times I feared our intentions were shared.  For example, When Buffalo (with Beane as the new GM) jumped the Panthers to take Dion Dawkins, we were targeting him--that is how we ended up with Moton, the next OT on the board.

I don't doubt he's on the list of players they are going to dig in to. But no poo.

Yep. Remember how we liked every QB prospect, just depended on whose article you read. That went for the 2022 draft and the 2023 draft.

That said, we might let out some hints to reporters about the guys who aren’t in the Hunter, Johnson, Graham and Carter group that are likely all gone before we pick. Kind of an it’s ok that we didn’t get Carter because we liked Walker just as much. Soften the blow of dropping to pick 8.

between walker, graham, and will johnson, at least one should be there at 8. hopefully carter will do well in the underwear olympics, and someone will take him before us, giving us a couple of these guys to choose from.

If the WRs don’t test amazingly, Walker could also be gone. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if it’s all defense and 2 QBs before we pick. I really hope there’s one or more teams that surprise everyone. Based on our luck of being one extra win away from a super stud (Herbert, Sewell/SF trading us 3 1sts, etc.), it really won’t surprise me. We’ve done some stupid stuff but we also don’t seem to have the oh look Jayden Daniels is a stud type of luck either. Charlotte is the hey we almost got Wemby type luck.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
