Panthers agree to 1-year deal with RB Rico Dowdle

Two 1000 yard running backs behind a stout oline, and the possibility to get another good one in the draft down the line. Bryce on the upswing and things looking much better. Spend most of the draft on defense and then bring it on.

Dallas OL was butt most of the year, best I remember. Plus they lost Dak early and rush didn't scare no one, so load the box.

This Panthers front office must really love SC players. Holy poo.

Not an SC fan but I’d take Kyle Kennard on day three as well.

Even better reason to sign him. Their Oline sucked, QB out, load the box and he still ran for 1000 yards. 26 years old and potential for another big season. Brooks may never be the same. Good job

in a historically good rb draft we are signing vets for this?  Doesnt compute

They already said they wanted to assemble a complete team so they could draft the best player available. Maybe that’s a running back, maybe it’s not.

I like this signing. Cheap too unless he has a huge year for us, which in that case we’ll all like it.

For those who don’t like it, try and view the $ as potentially a draft pick. Dowdle on a one year, incentivized deal is an attractive trade option for a contender who loses their starting RB to injury.

lol wut?

bruh I know you're trying to keep up with your whole panthers are dumb and make dumb moves shtick, but just maybe try to comprehend things a little bit better next time. not everyone has time to sit on here and try to make things make sense for you. I know you spend a lot of time on here. most people don't.

we just spent a high pick on Brooks. he is hurt and going to have to sit this season out and heal. there is no reason to draft another rookie running back when you have Hubbard locked up and hopefully a promising Brooks when healthy. This is like a redshirt season for him, I know you don't watch college ball, but that is a term used for people sitting out a season.

signing a 1000 yard back to spell your other 1000 yard back while your high pick back sits out a year isn't usually something people bitch about, but here you are queen.

*INCOMING ONE LINER!*

They signed a RB in Javonte Wiiliams.

My fault for using them as a competent franchise example. Williams looks completely washed after the knee injury. I’d much rather have Dowdle, still prefer a rookie this year to either.

yeah legitimately idk why they would sign Williams...like he could have legitimately been picked up in August

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
