Moving on to the 2nd round discussion

Recommended Posts

Please take Princely Umanmeilen at 57. Dan Morgan said the team is gonna value production in this draft and Princely has put up 17.5 sacks and 26 TFLs over the past two seasons.

if you’re gonna take an edge go get one of the couple remaining true first round border guys that have slipped

I don’t really care to grab a second round RAS project, the hit rate for that is abysmal, especially here.

Definitely Higgins for sure. I always looked at him as basically the poor man's T-Mac in this draft.

At WR, he was the guy i wanted since I assumed we'd go DE/OLB in the first.

Feel like they're going to trade up. They have enough picks and they really need more talent on defense.

Ezeiruaku if they trade up more to the top of the round. Umanmeilen if they just want to move up a handful of picks. I don't think either will naturally slide to us. Teams know our needs and understand they'll need to jump us if someone slides.

Part of me is anxious and hopes that they move up (EZ! EZ! EZ!). The team has to wait til the 25th pick in R2... BUT there's 5 - 8 EDGE prospects still on the board (wait and take Swinson?) plus other potential targets.

Going to be very interesting to see what they decide to do

I'm all for the trading up because there is no excuse for a team with a historically bad defense to not walk away with atleast  1 high impact player. Bottom of the second round and beyond you are talking development and situational.  That doesn't do poo for us, especially when we don't go defense in the first and address the same position from last year at that. Plenty of guys projected in the first slipped to the second. Go get one of them, capitalize on the opportunity.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
