Gonna be interesting how he handles the Clowney and possibly Wonnum contracts--cutting them would be $14m in cap room--not sure I would do it, but we signed Jones and you want your rookies to play to get experience....

Scourton can start right away. Princely might need some time to add weight and muscle to be a full time starter but I think he can definitely be a pass rush specialist his first year. So that does give them some leeway with the current vets.

Most of the moves I’ve seen have been average GM moves.

With that said, it takes 3 years to really know the results of a draft…

…and we need multiple drafts to fix this team.

I want to give Dan and Dave at least 3 more years.

Not taking the bag off my avatar’s head until we see a winning season.

I think we really got better on defense in free agency.  Did we get better in the draft?  Long term, probably. Short term?  Maybe not much.  Clowney and Wonnum are probably going to be able to hold off rookies at positions that tend to take time.  So we really have not improved the defense in the draft that much.  I would cut Clowney and start Jones and Wonnum--saving $7m in cap room.  I think Princely will be a pass-rushing specialist for his rookie season, and I see Nic Scourtan as a key rotational player who will start at some point.

Look for Scourton to start and Clowney if he's still here to rotate like he did in Baltimore

We are definitely trending in a better direction than we had been and this draft feels like a breath of fresh air compared to what we've had. Still need to finish up strong here though. But for now I am pleased with Dan and Dave. As another noted Tilis also seems to be a helpful addition.

Very pleased. Nothing cute. High floor guys who are football players. You can see that these are kind of moves from someone who understands football in the NFL.

Not everyone likes the picks, but this team is headed in the right direction. It’s been a LONG time since we have seen that.

Agree, I've been impressed with Morgan thus far in his stint as GM.  Last year, overhaul O-line, fix the middle of the line and started getting pieces to go around Bryce.  I like last years draft a lot honestly.  XL has shown potential, JT Sanders looked good as a rookie TE, Trev Wallace looked decent and Chau Smith Wade looked like a great value pick as well as snagging Jalen Coker UDFA.

This year, I think he was playin games, might have even been sneaking some of the Tet sandbagging talk, then boosting Jalon walker, I think he wanted Tet to fall and I think he kinda knew that the the difference between "top" edge rushers and guys we got was FAR smaller than the difference between Tet to 2nd round recievers.  He took Value, then doubled up on a strength of the draft WHERE the strength was highest, edge on day 2.  Very well navigated on his part IMO.

    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
    • Didn’t get around to watching this one but looks like Pistons played their starters and actually tried…? Unlucky that they sit vs Magic, etc and try vs us. Hopefully we can beat the Heat and then Magic or 6ers with no Embiid. BUT if not, the NBA really should give us the lottery win this year like they did Mavs last year. Another high pick could be our final missing piece and have us as legit top contenders next year and going forward if we’re healthy. Or trade it for a Giannis type
