Steelers Trade WR Pickens to the Cowboys

DK trade looks better now for Pit in that they weren't re-signing pickens this offseason and now getting a third back soften the trading a second for DK. However DK's deal is still an albatross (so glad we didn't do that)

Dallas is the one that makes no sense to me. Last year they should have gone all in, they didn't and now are basically dipping their toes in without fully committing. I'd be furious if I was a cowboys fan with how they've run the team the last two offseasons

PIT’s draft picks next year are looking more than plentiful.

With the OL they’re building (Jones, Frazier, McCormick, Fautanu all promising and very young), DK, & the Kaleb/Jaylen combo, they’ll be in a good spot to put a rookie QB in a sound position come 2026. They may look lost right now, but it will be corrected in short order. There’s a sequence to things there.

The track record for this is downright comical. At this point when Pickens inevitably flames out in Dallas the next time the Steelers put a WR on the trade block teams across the league just need to ignore them and wait for the team to release him.

first rule they would teach any proper GM in GM School is if the Steelers are trying to trade you a WR.....you tell them no thank you and block the number.

Man, for a 24 year old WR with his talent to get traded for that the overall view of him around the league must have been that he was nuclear radioactive level toxic.

And yet I argue with folks a lot about not wanting the wrong attitudes in our locker room, haha.

Tanking for Archie

I've seen a bunch of early mocks that don't have him going and also seen it mentioned how some people think he won't come out next year, as both Peyton and Eli stayed 4 years in school, they think Arch could in the end as well.

If Rodgers doesn't sign "I fully expect him to do so", watch Will Howard go out and throw for 3600 yards with 25td and 10int and the Steelers are 11-6 and in the Playoffs with a QB and having not spent much on him. lol

I wanted to see some thoughts on the trade and got some insight on my Steelers. A lot of it I can’t argue with. In the horrible position of not good enough to compete but too good to tank. With no QB plan for present or future.

Signing Fields would have bought them one-two years to search and if he continues improving like last year, then problem solved. And he doesn’t prevent them from taking a 1st rounder who gets in the range of their pick. But Tomlin screwed him over and he bolted. Now Rodgers is probably coming, and they will finish 9-8. It’s time to move on from Tomlin or they’ll be in same position for a decade.

Pickens was gone the second they gave DK his contract. Thought of the Panthers but y’all took care of that and he’s the last thing Bryce needs. Offense should be fun to watch and defense….well..

I think if defense is average you win South.

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
