Yeah, I still don't understand how he was rated #1 QB in that draft to this day.

Below avg arm strength

Way below avg size

avg athleticism

Happy feet

High sack and pressure rate %'s.

I mean I get that everyone makes mistakes, I was high on AR... lmfao and facepalm.

But it's so egregious that it's laughable.

full disclosure, I wanted Stroud initially but I'm not sure he ends up any better than Young. That was a crappy year to be QB desperate.

Let's say you have 1 car.  It has a bunch of miles but it still runs.  Its not worth much but you need a car to get to work, go to the grocery store, etc.  Someone offers you 200 dollars for the car, which is more than anyone else will offer you.  Is that then a deal you would take?

But you don't have just one car.  You pay someone to pick cars for you and you have two new ones that were advertised as top of the line plus a couple others you bought for value.  If that 200 dollar car is the only one you can rely on then you need to pay someone else to pick cars for you.

vikes pickup his $7mil this year too.

this is a solid deal and it's time bryce leaves the thielen nest and spread his wings. I remember we got rid of smith as well so Cam could take up more of the leadership role.  Theilen served his purpose as a dependable vet to help the young QB but it's year 3 now. time for the next step.

got mid teir draft picks and more $$$ for a 34 year old injury prone wr. this is a win.

Funny, I got the exact same vibe as the Smitty trade. It's time to get rid of ole reliable and force Bryce to go through his progressions, take deep shots, and not just defaulting to the easy option of finding the guy who's definitely open for a 5-yard gain.

I could have told you that before this trade. They've been hinting all off-season that this isn't the year for playoffs

Anyone with two eyes and a pulse knows that this team isn't going anywhere this season. If not they better open their eyes.

Smitty got released because he was a dick to Cam because he was an older vet and didn't have the patience or time to wait for cam to develop

They managed to unload his contract and that's a win in itself.  The pick swaps are miniscule in value to either side. How it effects the offense is yet to be seen. My only concern is that he had the surest hands of all the receivers on the team. That's not easy to replace.

I'm not upset at all for the compensation we got for AT.

We did just ship off our vest pass catcher, and the vet we had in the room.  I know many will dismiss a vets value to the youngsters,  but I won't be hearing their weak arguments.

    • A team should always be putting at least one or two draft picks in at tackle and guard each season. Those guys just don't last nearly long enough and those that do get very, very expensive. In our situation, we need a little more time to see what the Icky injury works itself out to. Njiman performed really well out there and if this injury lingers into the next season, then he might do well enough there to hold the line for the team. Or we could draft early if there is a stud LOT in the draft when our spot comes along.  Honestly, we may be looking at replacing both LT and RT this season at this point. Moton is getting long in the tooth and while he deserves a shot to go for a playoff run with this team, I don't know whether we will really see him come back next season yet. It's still so darned early in all of this to say.
    • Because we had a ton of things go our way this year and made the playoffs with a -70 point differential.  This year was the outlier.  Regression to the mean is unavoidable.  So the team will have to significantly improve to beat 8 wins next year.
    • One thing I noticed in this game (and I say this as the biggest of Bryce Young haters) is that Bryce did do a solid job of throwing into voids in this game, and leading receivers on crossers.  There were a few times where I was thinking "where the hell is he throwing it" only for a receiver to appear out of nowhere and catch it in stride.  Mike McDaniel might be a guy that can squeeze a little bit of production out of the otherwise ghastly Bryce Young. His offenses heavily feature that style of passing game.  I've heard Idzik is drawing interest from other teams.  If so, bringing McDaniel in at OC would be a stellar move.  I know it'll never happen, but fun to think about.
