So you think with the loss of AT, Moore is going to have a bigger role?

Vet presence for the young guys, yes. On the field, no... Not unless we see a ton of injuries.

Return wise, he'll have the job til they feel Horn is ready to take over there.

I would like Renfrow back, but not for reasons related to right now. I think Renfrow is still getting back to form. I would like to bring him in for what he quite possibly could offer us mid-season and forward. I don’t think he would just plug into AT and call it a day from day 1. The man missed an entire year and some change. Not gonna get back to form in 4 months. I mean D. Watson was damn near top 5 QB, missed time, finally got moved and has been a shell of his self since. I mean the football gods could’ve been at play there but thats the most recent example i can remember while sitting here at work.

Think we had to negotiate because (for some reason) we weren't willing to eat any of his salary.

I completely agree with not eating any of his salary. This team has done that far to long and the cap is complete ass because of doing such foolishness.

I’m fine ride or die. We had Theilen for 2025 and then he’s gone. We get to move up to better picks and the young guys get their opportunity.

I do find it laughable that Theilen not being here might stunt Young’s growth. JFC, for all the guys who think Morgan is doing a great job, we’ve give up 2023 pick 9, 2024 pick 1, 2024 pick 32 and 2025 pick 8.

If Adam Theilen being gone makes our passing offense go to poo after spending 3 top 10 picks and another 1st rounder, then we best fire the entire coaching and front office and start our rebuild the right way in 2026.

I really don't think it's a "stunted growth" situation. But really the #1 priority this season is to evaluate Bryce. So if the WR's are trash(not saying they are, hypothetically). I definitely don't want to be in a situation where we need another year to find out if he is "The Guy" or not.

I do wonder what changed and when though. Thielen went from being a big Bryce believer to lowkey talking up JJ McCarthy and calling him the future face of the league before training camp. Doesn't sound like a ringing endorsement.

I also think this is Dan doing a solid for a vet that wants to retire in Minny.

This is what annoys me. Why don't you do a solid for a franchise that you played for and gave you the GM job instead?

A bit strange to make to ditch the one clear security blanket for our QB in a critical year for him... But if Thielen was wanting to go, I can't really blame him.

Agreed but if the eighth overall pick WR can't step up and be a big player, there are bigger problems at play.

In a make or break year for Bryce to prove he can be the guy...

Tommy Tremble and David Moore are the only pass catchers (not including RBs) who have played more than 1 NFL season.

That's just scary to think about, no matter how much potential these young guys have.

Woa there now

Pointing out reasonable challenges that players face is regarded as "making excuses" and "carrying the water" around these parts. 😛

I think its clear Theilen wanted out as soon as the Vikings came calling. I'm glad we got as much as we did for an aged wr who was definitely retiring at seasons end.  I feel like he was a crutch for Bryce anyway.  Bryce would throw to AT when better options were available.

is that a reflection on him simply wanting to go home (something he could do in Jan) or him seeing us in the preseason and wanting to play with a contender on his last ride? hmmmmmmmmm.......

Probably some of both.

Absolutely. Once Thielen’s agent leaked his desire to go back to Minnesota to Adam Schefter on Monday night the Panthers lost their leverage

I think we always had some leverage unless behind the scenes he had become quite vocal about wanting to leave. It's not like he was attempting to hold out or anything crazy.  It's objectively pretty good value for an aging but still effective veteran in his last year or two of his career.
