I think he has underperformed his draft position. Doesn’t mean he sucks but I haven’t seen what I hoped to see. I guess let’s put it that way.
I don’t advocate adding LOT to the needs list. It is a tough one.

Just sign him because he’s an absolute bulldozer in the run game and his pass protection is good enough not to get Bryce killed. With Moton probably leaving next year they’ll have some cap money to move to Icky

Where do you draw line top3 or top 5 money then?

I wish he goes for a "hometown" deal and doesn't try and reset market but it's going to be tough to argue not paying him BIG MONEY if he continues do be a stabilizing force on the left side of line.

DM got some tough decisions to make at the OT position coming up.

Absolutely, and I would hope that someone smarter than me is making that ultimate decision.

He has been better than ok, despite the shortcomings. Top half of the league, top 20ish. The unfortunate trend is every off-season seems to feature the next highest-paid player at their position.

If I had to go on a hunch, we will pay him what he wants, because of everything that doesn't equate to his performance on the field. I don't think I would lose sleep over it, again it's not my money or choice, but he isn't worth that kind of deal.

Moton isnt going anywhere. We just gave him a 2 year 44 million extension with 40m guaranteed.

His run blocking is making up for his negatives in pass blocking right now.

He’ll still have pass blocking hiccups, but if they think he’s a critical part to the locker room and team construction, you probably re-sign him and try not to overpay.

Looking at Over the Cap it actually wouldn't be terrible cap wise POST-June1st trading him next year off-season.

I wouldn't but you never know

Yeah he has a potential out after next year. It’s like a 10 million dead cap hit but you have over 47 million between the next two years. It was always a 3 year 67 million deal with that hit. He would need to still be playing at an elite level to justify keeping him years 4 and 5.

We have the most expensive O Line due in large part to T-Mo. If we had a rookie RT or Christensen and didn't have a $30 or $40 mill cap hit at that spot it wouldn't be so bad. We will essentially be shifting T-Mos cap hit to Ickey with hopefully a rookie taking over that RT spot.

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
