Otoh getting trade value from two games of rb production that you picked up off the street is a  no brainer. 

Panthers aren’t competing this year, probably not next year, and Rico wouldn’t resign here anyway. 

This would be the definition of selling high.

Plot twist - we are limiting Rico's carries because we are going to trade Chuba in the offseason and sign Rico for cheaper because teams will assume he isn't that good because he only has 800 rushing yards (on like 150 carries...)

Hubbard comes w/ contract baggage.  Teams would want the really good RB, with no baggage, that Canales isn't running.

On the plus side:  If they do deal Rico, it would send a message to the rest of the locker room that if you play well enough you can be traded to a playoff team.  Real motivator there.

Lots of facets to this. I am taking the calls but am keeping him unless the NFL gets into a bidding war, unless someone does a Tepper or a Mike Ditka.

Panthers have to stop trading talent for draft picks.  As a fan, it is draining to watch our players go off on other teams.
