Cam Newton's Legacy with the Panthers

How will you remember his time here?

For me no time soon will the Panthers see an individual talent like his at the QB position.  People forget how rare a truly elite QB can be, especially with his dual threat ability.  I honestly felt that he had the ability to become the LeBron James of the NFL.  His infectious attitude, marketability and great off the field personality is something that we have never had with the Panthers.  It was great to have a player featured in commercials, having shoe deals, and bringing overall notoriety to the franchise.  Add that in with his ridiculous skillset, we had a lot of potential for immense success.
I hate that injuries and a lack of offensive support ended up being his downfall over time.

I'm thankful to have witnessed his play firsthand, and look forward to seeing what he does next.  I'll still be a fan of his no question.

greatest QB we've ever had, maybe most iconic player, moreso than 89.

did more to grow this franchise than anyone in history.

rewrote the record books in a short decade.

criminally unappreciated by scads of people who literally would have chosen kyle allen over him because they prefer a losing lunchpaily white quarterback to a brash, unapologetic black man.

my favorite player in any sport across all time.

he made them so mad they were reduced to calling kyle allen “baby GOAT”

that was the absolute lowest point of sports fandom i have ever seen jfc

His legacy will be as a generational QB who had the misfortune to play for an inept coaching staff and organization.  Not surrounding him with the talent to succeed year after year and allowing him to get beat to a pulp behind constantly terrible Olines.

Fuggin shame.

Hold on gotta take a timeout the calls not coming in.

Was incredible you watch while he was in his prime here. I mean he basically wore a flakjacket under his jersey at one point. The past few years have been difficult. It really might be time for a change for him. But wish we had given him one more chance this season.

    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
