How much each NFL team paid players not on their team in 2020

If you are looking for a stat that defines poor contract/cap decisions, this is it.  There is some bad luck sprinkled in (premature retirements), but overall, this is the benchmark.

We opted to eat some dead cap this past year, so the number is a little inflated compare to our norm, but the face that we had to eat it sooner or later speaks poorly of our former GM.

We'll be eating some this year, too, as has been pointed out.  Essentially, it is the equivalent of over a forth of your income going out the door on credit card payments for stuff you overpaid for and do not own anymore.  Now, we need to have some major work done on the car, and can't really afford it.

The MOST fugged up part is that this is exactly why he was fired the first time. Whatever his faults may be, and there were several, Marty was the reason Dave was having to shop in the bargain basement every year. What looks like a very solid 2020 draft will help, but Fitterer has his work cut out for him.

I still don’t understand how people can be a Hurney apologist. This man has been the franchises Achilles for decades. I wonder how soon we will see a difference in the quality of Free Agent signings, what homegrown talent we can retain and how the contracts look in the next 5 years. Not all teams hit on having a FO that can be with a team for the long haul. We had one in the previous regimes but lost the best part of it to the Bills. Tepper is hopefully keen on making decisions for the betterment of the business and the quality of the product the team is putting on the field rather than staying complacent and just bringing in profit.

In fairness, a big part of our 2020 dead money hit was Matt Kalil, and that was all Gettleman.
