whether we're making bona fide offers is besides the point - fitts is testing the market and keeping his pulse on the going rate for qb starters and that's exactly what he should be doing.

marty is probably up in washington watching tape from butler county community college writing down the names of guards he can turn into safeties in the second round

Yep exactly. This is doing your du diligence. I love it.

JR and Hurney prolly sat together writing long winded letters and snail mailing them

Torn by the idea of Darnold.

Others have said, well look what happened when the Bills stuck with Josh Allen.  And it's not really comparable.  Allen made VERY clear strides forward every year.  His completion percentage went up, every year.  His TD% went up, every year.  His INT% went down, every year.  His yardage went up, every year.

Some have "It's Gase fault" and I don't discount the legacy of Adam Gase either.  But consider the curious case of Ryan Tannehill.  He actually became a better QB under Gase.  I know!  I couldn't believe it either.  But the stats are there.  Gase drove Tannehill from a career 60% passer to a 65% passer.  Gase did drive Tannehill's INT% way up, but as soon as Gase was out of the picture, it dropped back to his career norms, but his completions stayed up.

That's where my concern with Darnold comes in.  Darnold just isn't completing the ball.  Remember, his rookie year, Darnold was NOT with Gase.  I'm sure the ineptitude of the coaches was at a similar level, but the Gase QB effect we saw in Miami with Tannehill didn't happen with Darnold.

Darnold has been who he is regardless of the coaching.  No major shifts.

I wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him.  Jets get our 3rd and TB5, we get Darnold.  No one will do that deal, but I'd take it if we could get it.

I wouldn't even offer them a half eaten ham sandwich for Goff.

You missed my point.  Through free agent negotiations, you can learn a bit more about their draft strategy and needs.  If you are in on every deal, you learn what they are looking for, what the market is, etc. Talk is free--nobody has to lose half a sandwich to talk/

What we learn could be the difference between moving up or sitting still at #8.

I missed a call from a 704 number this morning. I'm just gonna assume it was Fitts seeing if I can still chuck that pigskin.

That is really odd.  I gave him one of your self-produced videos and told him what you would have done if the coach had just put you in the game.  Great movie.

Don't laugh until you have examined his statistics at JACKSONVILLE, but I can't get the Minshew idea out of my head.  Trade for him for a future pick, trade back with the first round pick and add a first rounder in 2022 (in case Minshew does not work out), add picks (OL, CB, LB, C/G) in the draft, and we are covered--if he succeeds and if he does not.  He has that Delhomme energy about him-and I tried to dismiss this idea, but nobody is talking about it.

He won 7 of 20 games as the Jax starter over the past 2 seasons, 63% completions, 37 TDs and 11 Ints.  He is always behind in games, facing defenses that know he is passing and DL that pin their ears back vs. a weak OL.

Not sure what his value is, but Jax can't sell him too hard--they are replacing him because they have no choice.  This is not my idea-it was shared--but I cannot discount it.  It might be the best option.  He will be 25 and you could still draft a QB at 8 should one fall.  Then trade one in 2022.

I watched minshew play and I just can’t get on the hype train. Don’t forget he was benched last year. He is a read and run type qb. I like to compare him to my golf game... good off the tee but just can’t string the rest together. Bogey.

Sewell or Slater and Darnold to compete with what we have? Might be good. Robby Anderson worked out for us.

I ask again....What actually is the difference between Darnold and Burrow? Why could Brady not coach Darnold up and turn him into what he was predicted to be?

Trade a 3rd or 4th for Darnold. Keep the 1st and draft Sewell or Slater. Tag Moton. That seems like just as good of a plan as trading a treasure trove for a rookie QB.
