McClain Insinuates Deshaun is Far-Fetched for Panthers

I mean it goes back to the PFF Bronco scenario.  Broncos are even after us.  But the trade only happens in the draft.  Texans will have to wait until the draft.....and see if a QB actually falls to a team they are willing to trade with.

and I think there are decent odds that one of the 4 makes it to 8.

Where the pick is this year doesn't matter one bit if the overall value is equal. If the overall value is equal, the Texans can trade up to the top 3 if they want with other assets we would send in a trade. Plus, I'm not sure why the Texans are in such a rush to get a QB if they do trade Watson. If they don't replace Watson with a capable starter they will be a lock for 1st overall next year and then will have Howell and a crap ton of draft capital/young players from the Watson haul and would be looking pretty good going forward. Yeah next year would suck for them but it'd be a quick turnaround from there. I don't think us picking 8th this year factors in at all except that it means we'll have to offer more in the total package, but we've already known this thanks to the whiners bringing up the Washington win every other thread...

Meh, up until a few days ago, this McClain dude was adamant that Houston would not trade Watson.  Hes been consistently wrong on this issue since the beginning.  I would not put too much stock into his opinion - which is all this is.

    • He makes a good point about Wallace.  In fairness to Wallace it is hard to play your position as freely as you need to when your defensive line is getting pushed around like ragdolls.  One of the greatest attributes a defensive line has is sucking up blocks, freeing up your linebackers.  Our defensive line couldn't suck up a lollipop more or less blocks.  I think Evans, Sanders and Tremble are going to be a really nice TE group.  I can see all three getting time on the field.  If Sanders can improve as a blocker teams won't be so inclined to believe it is a pass play whenever Sanders is on the field.  Ryan Fitzgerald, I think was an awesome pick-up. Hopefully he can fill our kicker void. Luke Kandra many turn out to be our next Norwell.  Everything I have heard about him says he's a beast.  He needs some refinement, but the good news is he's got Hunt and Lewis (arguably the best guard tandem in the league) to learn from.
    • Great teams build through the draft and have several young players that start that are on rookie contracts. It's important to hit on players in rounds 4 thru 7.  These should be future starters and solid depth.  When you hit on most of your picks you free up a lot of cap space for those one- or two-year players to fill spots you are thin at. No GM is going to perfect on all their picks.  You're going to whiff every once in a while.  That was Hurney problem.  He'd nail the first pick but after that it was reach after reach and we couldn't get any depth on this team. I'm excited about Morgan as our GM and hopefully he'll be around a long time.  It will be even better if Canales can continue to grow as a head coach, both in the development of young players and play calling. I remember last season after Young came back in the lineup and started to perform well.  We saw different plays I had only seen other teams use.   If Canales's play design and play calling continue to grow. Morgan and Canales will be linked together for a long time.  It would be nice to see a Coach and GM together for a decade or two. Go Panthers
    • They also came out for the encore and the singers were dressed in canes jerseys. Pretty fuging cool.
