Are the 49ers okay?

First this is obviously bullshit but it would be the opposite of panicking. If they got Aaron Rodgers they would have a dynasty instantly. Worth a shot. They could give that + Jimmy + literally like 4 firsts and some 2nd and 3rds in there and they'd still be a dynasty with Rodgers.

I mean you'd have to see it at least somewhat as cold feet on a prospect, to me them trading up in ''win now'' mode as some eluded to never made a ton of sense when you're looking at the 3rd, 4th, 5th best QB base don how you view -- Jones / Lance / Fields

It's unlikely any of these three guys could be better than Jimmy G. year one...so why not continue to invest in the team as a whole, and now those future picks are gone -- this has gotten interesting, because man if they get it wrong.....sheesh.

The Mahomes jump didn't cost this much if memory serves, and that's what the move will be compared to.

Ultimately, I think the tea leaves are reading Trey Lance after Shanny's gushing about the read option offense and running QB threat yesterday combined with the rumors that the Niners are likely to hang onto Garappolo for the time being despite multiple potential suitors. Lance is the elite QB prospect who would benefit most from not being forced to play immediately.

    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
