Ron's Panthers Legacy:  NOT changing a damn thing going into the SB after having been embarrassed by the Falcons for the Panthers only loss.  It was evident early on the Panthers were in trouble and yet there were no adjustments to protect Cam.  Broncos essentially took the Falcons template and beat a better team.

What added insult to injury:  The first game of the next season where Ron still hadn't come up with a way to protect his franchise QB from being repeatedly used for target practice by the Broncos defense.

Some coaches have the ability to lift their team to a level above the sum of its parts.  Ron proved, with a record of 3 winning seasons in 9 years, he isn't one of those coaches.

lol...not our problem  now. That article was  about a vet he cut.  Of course.....he has  no real  connection/history with the vets in Washington. Time will tell. But I do think it  is interesting  that he said  it.

I do think that Ron needed a good GM. Obviously he did  not have  that here.  The fact that he brought Hurney to Washington  should  be very concerning  to  the no  names.

Good on him to be realistic, realize things he should/could have done differently, and move forward making adjustments and trying to be better. Maybe sometimes a change of scenery is needed to help get that evolution started. 

I always liked Ron as a man and leader in the locker room. Cheers to him.

Ron is and was a great defensive mind.  Great human being as was and is his family by all accounts.  I appreciate their help in animal welfare greatly.

All that said, it was time for Ron to go in Carolina 3 years prior to his termination and I said it then.  Whatever the reason he couldn't get it done here regardless of the talent placed before him.  That is all that matters in professional football.

2015 happened because we had the most physically talented player in the league in his prime combined with an elite defense. It had little to do with Ron and his coaching ability or lack thereof.  

Hell he is probably the reason we lost that super bowl by not allowing shula to add any new wrinkles to the offense and not making any adjustments during the game.

Kinda the chicken and the Egg tbh. Hurney and Rivera just fit each other. I'm just glad we took a totally different approach moving forward.

      Against Miami, the Panthers were behind by 17 in the 2nd quarter facing a 4th - 5. Young completed a 21 yard pass and they went on to score 7 on that drive. Then in the 4th, down by 4, they faced a 4th - 5 and again, he completed a 17 yard pass and they went onto score a TD for the win. He also accounted for 2 of the 3 TD's.  As I said, he got them in that mess and no doubt, Rico gets credit as well, but missing on either of those 4th down conversions hands the ball over and results in 1 or 2 less TD's giving them a loss. As you said though, that's just a small quibble. The real question is how does the FO see it?  I am guessing they see it as something to build on. I think most peope here see it as a total loss and fully expect the FO to see it that way as well. Time will tell.

      Kochetkov is just too streaky. TBD if Freddie is doing that too. Freddie is the more reliable goalie over his career. The Bussi kid looks like he could be a solid #2 eventually.  Just need to figure out the #1 guy. Same as almost every year. It's not talent, it's consistency and being able to step up in the playoffs.
