The one thing that makes me ponder the possibility is that if I recall correctly, Anderson is in the last year of his contract with us.

It's not unusual for GMs to try to get something out of a player in his final year if they don't think they'll be able to re-sign him.

Exactly

refreshing to have a GM that keeps it a business

If this is true and RA will hit the market next offseason it would be in his best interest to get his ass in town and ball out

I figure it was just to see if anyone would be willing to offer us something stupid. As soon as we drafted Marshall that was basically the writing on the wall for Anderson in Carolina long-term. I'm sure we're very willing to let him play out his contract then let him walk and take the comp pick next year.

As long as Marshall can stay healthy...

This is a guy that Rhules wife absolutely loves and cried about when he signed here with joy. Id be shocked if this was true.... Robby says he wants to end his career here and that money "isn't everything to him" He would rather be in a good situation w his former coach. Now if we can't make it work money wise I could see, but in my opinion we will likely do anything we can to sign him long term.

I hope not. The receivers we just drafted still have enfamil on their breath and have yet to play a down in an nfl game. No you should not ignore offers but you should also be careful not to outsmart yourself. Let's see what these rooks have to offer and go from there.

This doesn't make any sense.  HIs contract is very reasonable for  1000 yard receiver.... we had just signed Darnold and it would help with his transition.

I just can't imagine Fit would do this.  I'm not going to believe this until there's evidence otherwise.

Joe Brady’s scheme is going to make WRs look good.  Which Robbie and Samuel are likely examples of that in some fashion.  So it could just be an opportunity to sell high.

Makes me curious about Robbie’s actual take on his old Jet QB following him though.  If this is true.  I mean he was glad to get away from it.   Wonder if there is something to that dynamic.

Robbie quotes:

"He [Rhule] stood on the table with the university to get me back into school, to open up that door for me to rewrite my wrongs to get me in the position I’m in today,” Anderson said Friday in his first media availability since signing with the Panthers

“I can honestly say if it wasn’t for Coach Rhule making things happen, I wouldn’t be in the position that I’m in today.”

For Anderson, there wasn’t much convincing on his end to sign with the Panthers. He had his eye on Carolina immediately following the news breaking of Rhule becoming the team’s next head coach.

“I know winning is in his blood and that’s what he’s here to do,” Anderson said.

“There wasn’t much he had to sell me on… I wanted to be a Panther.”

While I wouldn't be upset if we traded I'm if we got something really good in return, but while I don't really expect/want him to be back next year, I still want him around this year.

I think it would be good to have Marshall as the #3 this year to learn and not have as much pressure on him.

Then after this year, if Robbie just loved Rhule so much that he's wiling to stick around on like a 7-10 million a year deal, then I'd love to have him stay.  But if he's going to want 10-15 that he likely could get if he puts up another 1,000 yard season, then we just have to let him walk as the money is better used elsewhere.

And I'm not so sure I even want to get a comp pick for him, I'd love it if we were active in Free Agency next year and brought in a difference maker or two, who would cancel out any Robby comp pick.
