To be fair I've been doing a lot of digging already into the 2022 draft and I firmly believe it'll be one of the least talented drafts in several years.I think that's one reason we're willing to give up picks in 2022 so easily.

You may be right but it’s seems to be deep in OL talent which is where we have the most need.

Also, some of the reports saying that Carolina is getting a 5th in return along with Henderson, so it's a trade down rather than straight giving up a pick if that is accurate.

If the first few games are any indication Panthers have traded a mid to late 3rd round pick for an early 5th rounder from Jax. In return they're getting a former first rounder and giving up a TE that was expendable.

But we are getting 1st round pick additions like Reddick and now this guy also a #9 overall.

Thank you... that's the real question... if you are picking up more talent than you are trading away it's a win...

This version of Sam Darnold for a 2nd round pick??  Absolute no brainer

A top 10 CB pick with 3 years left on his rookie contract plus the 5th year option for a 3rd (Dan Arnold was probably worth a 5th which we got back so Henderson basically cost us a 3rd)??  Absolute no brainer

Think of it as just using your draft picks early... and from that perspective, the Panthers are absolutely killing it...

And we have plenty of cap space for resigning guys, FA, to boot

You're right - BUT, there is no need to rush him back this year.  Broken bones heal, and when they do, they should be back to as strong as before the break.  I really don't see any scenario where Horn is back this year.

I completely agree here. Management understands it isn't worth rushing him back to cause a more serious situation. Bring in another guy, then tell JC to take his time and get ready. I think Henderson gives us the ability to say that and fully mean it. lol! I don't think it takes us out of the Sherman deal, if he plans on playing safety. Burris got hurt too right? Anyone heard anything on that....I haven't heard it mentioned.

Yeah, he'll be Curtis Samuel part II.  He has improved his play, but he'll be looking for a LOT more money than he's worth and won't be worth the cap commitment for us.

I have said this exact same thing in more than one post (comparing him and Samuel).

Hopefully, we get SOMETHING though if this is the case. We finally have a competent GM and its still really hard to get used to having good deals.

#1 priority is making sure Horn is healthy, so I'm cool if we don't see him again until next year.

But if he's back for the playoffs?  Oh boy.  OH BOY.

This is the type of secondary you need (combined with this insane pass rush) to truly have a chance against the elite offenses

I get it, but that is spent capital and using your potential capital.  Those are retrofit fixes for things this year, it doesn't help us at all with future needs such as OL.

    • Facts it's still crazy that they made him sell over that especially considering what some of the other owners have done.  JR was a rich 80 year old white man from the south I'm not at all surprised about him making some "inappropriate" comments about what a woman is wearing water is wet what a surprise. That's just the way things were done during his time, and he should and did get punished for his actions by paying some hefty fines, but it definitely wasn't something that he should've been forced to sell his team over.  I'll never forget him insulting Peyton Manning during a negotiation, reportedly belittling the quarterback’s knowledge of player safety and asking, “Do I need to help you read a revenue chart, son?
    • Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
