Opinions: How far can they go with this Oline?

The elephant in the room. How can they compete against the top tier defenses and survive with this line? Can they scheme to compensate for this inadequate group? Any ideas on how they can do this with smoke and mirrors?

I'm afraid that this Achilles heel will rear it's ugly head if they do get in the playoffs....

What u got?

Wild card.

It's hard to envision winning an actual playoff game with this offensive line.  Now, having said that, this defense is going to keep us in most games.

But TBH, Darnold and CMC have overcome this offensive line more so than actually benefitting from it... and I don't see the team being able to magically upgrade until after the season.

Hope I'm wrong, but honestly, even sniffing the playoffs after almost every national pundit picked us to finish last or near last will be vindicating enough for this year.

I know we're all excited around here at the moment, but just making the playoffs would be a significant success.

That said, having Tremble and Thomas in on sets will help, as well as getting CMC back, who is a very good blocking RB. But it's just polishing a turd for this season.

If KC couldn't smoke and mirror their way in the SB, I have little doubt we can with this group. Decastro, and Schwartz are still FA's recovering from injuries. Aside from that I can't see a team trading a ''good'' OL piece.

Now that our 2022, 2nd and 3rd round picks are spoken for, options are limited unless we start to look at Brady and Deonte.

I don’t think we know yet. The D has played at a very high level and let’s be honest, we’ve played Wilson in his 1st start, Mills in his 1st start and Winston.

We have yet to play from behind. How is this OL going to perform if we are behind and have to pass and the opposing D doesn’t care about the run? Heck, what happens with a good D that doesn’t have to game plan for CMC?

We haven’t played from behind but defenses have come pretty hard after Darnold too.

Draft OL with out first and sign another lineman in FA.

    • I believe Lloyd will elevate not just the whole unit, but also whoever his running mate is. Wallace is still very young, I think he's only 23 with two years of exp now. Cherelus can handle starting, he's just fighting with staying healthy. Kuwatch I think is going to be a contender after a couple week of understanding the system.  I mean Lee will be against..... what nearly 10 NFL-level WRs, he's going to get work and its up to him if he can hang.  I think its fair to expect 12th +/- 3 or 4 spots.  You know this, it boils down to how healthy everyone stays.....cause if dbrown, horn, Lloyd, Michael Jackson, or tervon miss extended time.....no way 10th can be reached. IF all the names above remain haethly, I do think 10th should be the goal. They are a young unit and added talent to a 16th ranked unit. Its time to march forward!!
    • Varying degrees all around but it starts at the top. That is where the buck stops. It has been 8 years of stupid, long before Morgan came back. Or Tillis was hired. Made it to the top of stupid mountain in 2023. Stayed in stupid limbo for a while, now we are prepping to scale the next mountain. In this case, I like those guys’ roster building better than what we have had so I am okay with them as our current pawns in the game of Bryce.
    • Don't let me gas him up too much, but I hear this and that...... I seen a wide body man with a quick burst, that's able to shed blocks and if extends his long arms its over. He tore up the OL in the senior, you seen about 10 plays and the dog walking OLman. There's other plays of him doing the same, just have to deal with fetus talking over the plays. Plus there's this-  https://x.com/PFF_College/status/2018385471068332410?lang=en     I hope he's ready, cause Id like to see him starting and doing his thang with dbrown, nic, and Phillips.
