Steve Smith said the reason for the drops was cause they were hospital balls, Chris Simms also eluded to it.

No he’s not. Come on, now.

Anyways, it’s looking like we’ll be looking for a QB again this upcoming offseason. Sam has processing issues, and he’s not as accurate as some would like you to believe. The same folks who would complain of holding onto the ball, accuracy/timing issues of our past QBs, are really seeing that now. Sam isn’t the only problem facing this team, but he’s one of the bigger issues. We absolutely would be foolish to give him 3 years. This is his 4th year in the league, and it’s clear he’s not getting it. It’s not clicking. Best to move on.

I hate that we picked up that fifth year tbh. It seemed like we would've learned from the Bridgewater situation. We just don't seem to believe in vets proving that they deserve more time and money.

Ok,, normally you Huddlers  are posting video of how bad the line is or an amazing sack etc..

Where's all the video of the dropped passes.  I too believe there was more than 7-8 dropped passes,,  I believe even if it was on first or second down they hurt a potential drive,  and Darnold missed receivers in the game, but when you have that many  drops , they're demoralizing to a QB and O'line that struggle.

Some one post the drops please

The drops dont fit their narrative. In their little world we are going to get a QB and rebuild our OL with the few draft picks we have remaining.

Some of the drops were hospital balls but many were not. There were something like 10+ drops of which 8 were catchable according to PFF (not finger tip catches) and multiple ended/would have ended drives from what I saw.  The 4th quarter drops only didn't end drives because of 4th down.

Hell DJ dropped a TD that may have changed the outcome, and I love DJ.  Something was off with our guys all game.

His mentality is why we are in this mess. We treated a reclamation project bust from another team like an already established franchise quarterback. This is on our staff as much as Sam. The film of who he has been as a starter was there it's on Rhule and Fitterer for gambling with both the oline and no real option behind Darnold.

Darnold has the 8th highest average time to throw in the league. Teddy's was among the lowest last year. Yeah, the OL sucks. But Darnold isn't getting the ball out fast enough oftentimes too.

Lies, damn lies and statistics.

If Darnold has the 8th highest average time to throw in this league, why does literally everyone want 3 new starting iOL and a new LT?

He's getting hit on almost every drop back. Often he's getting hit before he gets into the hitch in his drop back - it's fuging absurd.

Any time teams want to generate pressure they just run a stunt and come clean through up the middle.

He was “hurried” around 1 out of 3 dropbacks. So 66% of the time he had time and a clean pocket (not great I know). Our line played serviceable against the Vikings. Eagles was a whole level of awful. So do our WRs suck all the sudden or is our line terrible or is the OC that we liked last year awful now? That’s a lot of excuses to protect one individual. Our line isn’t good, but played well enough last Sunday. Our WRs were considered a strength this season. Joe Brady is having some issues, but part of it is also not trusting his QB. I’m fine with moving on from Brady and Darnold if this continues.

So a third of the time he's 'hurried' when our entire passing game is three step hitch and get the ball out?

Yeah, zero problems with the Oline there then! 🤣

Yep. There were a couple of hospital balls but there were no shortage of just outright drops too.

I'd honestly never seen anything like it.  I think every receiver was feeling like they needed to make THE play to get us back on track and they stopped making the routine plays.

That and something is just off with Robby...

The responsibility for catching the pass is equally on the receiver and the passer.

The QB has to put touch on the ball, and not lead his receivers into dangerous situations that lower the chance of the catch and increase the chance of an injury.

The receiver has to catch the ball when it's put on the numbers and haul in passes within his radius anytime there the ball is in a well placed area of the field for them.

So in hindsight if Sam never made the passes and we lost, and he came out and said he never made passes because the wrs weren’t getting open enough and they’d be hospital passes, y’all would be praising him and be more ok with the loss?

Interesting.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
