We need Vinnie Testerverde.

Or maybe Josh McCown or pull Alex Smith out of retirement.

We just need that older guy who can step in for a game or two and mentor Sam. A guy that wouldn't mind being that guy on the sidelines.

There must isn't much out there like that.

Vinnie was on the couch Monday

Signed Tuesday

Won Sunday

And the Observer had the greatest headline ever

VVVVVVV VINNIE AND THE CATS!!!!!

There's a decent chance James Morgan is better than PJ Walker.

4th rounder, doesn't sound that bad either.  He should know the playbook alright by now, I'd give him a shot.  PJ looks plain old awful.  And a shrimp at that.

Quote
  • Very tough player
  • Gutted out knee injury that slowed him for almost the entire year
  • Willing to sit down and eat punishment to release the throw
  • Impressively low sack total, doing what he can to get the ball out
  • Completion total ravaged by excessive drops in 2019
  • Above-average hand size
  • Can spin the ball with just a flick of the wrist
  • Few windows are too tight for his velocity
  • Can fling strikes into the teeth of the defense
  • Shows ability to expedite his delivery when needed
  • Flashes major league arm talent

The only way I'd bring Vinny here is to be the new QB Coach.

His playing days are long gone.

What is Josh McCown doing these days?  hmmm..

Okay sure he possibly could be except you're forgetting the one most important question

Did he play for temple or Baylor?

In all seriousness, if Darnold is going to miss time I hope they give him some looks in practice.  PJ looks to make worse decisions than Darnold and that's saying something.

    • Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT.  What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making  I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS.   So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
    • I think people forget that by his last season Steve Smith had the ass and he played like it - and for no really good reason other than that other stars were emerging on the team and he didn't want to share the spot light.  He was more of a locker room distraction than he was worth. He went on to have great performances with the Ravens' but G-man made the right move allowing him to move on from here.  I personally think it was addition by subtraction and we don't have a super bowl run with Smith on the roster. Steve Smith remains a narcissist who I've never seen internalize his own culpability when it comes to his relationships with others - it's always somebody else's fault as to why he was forced to act like an asshole. This video is a product ad.  I'm cringed that either of these two Panther greats are party to it.
    • I think the ‘issue’ here is that we had two guys that clashed for several reasons. In some ways they were different, but in other ways they had a lot in common, and sadly they couldn’t see the forest for the trees. Sometimes when you have two people like that together they are either going to love or hate each other, and if it’s the latter, you need someone to mediate and hope the two individuals are capable of putting their differences aside for the common good. In this instance, they couldn’t find a way to move forwards together because I don’t think either guy wanted to play second fiddle to the other. This video basically said neither guy had the tools to bridge that gap and mend that fence, and perhaps also were unwilling to give an inch at that stage in their lives and careers. So a divorce, while unfortunate, was always likely. Do we win the Super Bowl with Smitty and Cam? Well, it’s one of life’s big what ifs for us Panthers fans.
