I'm glad you want Rhule fired, but that doesn't change the posts you've made, and then poof didn't make the last few years. It's not like you're anonymous.

So Smithers loves the sixth round long snapper the Panthers drafted, even if he has to sit a couple years to be coached up by Rhule to snap the ball.

Yeah, and I'm the one not coming across as intelligent.

Did I say I loved him?  Nope.  I said y’all are getting too worked up over a 6th round pick.  Which you are.  Get over it.  Or maybe get a job and learn what real world problems are.

The thinking must be giving Thomas Fletcher camp competition instead of just handing him the job

He got manhandled by the Ravens in preseason so he probably just sucks in blocking. Rhule liked him because, quote, "He's just like, a regular guy!". I'm sure he wants to play and we coulda got him in UDFA but it wasn't exactly a pressing need when there was Trey Smith and a couple DT's available that were not gonna be available post draft

Man I'm still baffled as hell by this one. Jansen seems like a good player and super reliable etc but what on earth did we waste the draft pick on the other guy for then? This is just one of MANY weird foolish and goofy moves by Rhule that tells me he should not be allowed to have the power he does with our team. I can see it and so many others but why in the world can't Tepper see it? As ridiculous as it sounds I swear I could probably coach and run this team at very minimum just as good as Rhule and it should not be that way. For his salary he should be worlds above me or most others but I guarantee you there are guys as assistants who I would put money on could run this team much better. Hell I bet Luke K. could come coach us on game days and practices and give the personal control to Fit and I bet that combo could easily produce more wins and more success year after year than Matt Rhule ever will be able to. Why in the hell is he even still here?

Most smart teams use late round picks on players with major red flags like (injuries, off field issues,  physical talent but never did anything in college) not a long snapper.. The only way to make this move sane was having him replace JJ because JJ is at the end of his career and they can't even do that right..

Smh lol

Yeah, I remember reading that Jansen wasn’t sure if he even wanted to come back this year.  After the Fletcher pick, seemed like it’d be his last year and Fletcher would take the reigns from next year on.  But nah 😂 Fletcher must really suck.  Glad we’re not going to roll with him if he’s not good enough.  People are memeing the signing but JJ is as good as it gets at LS

the young buck can still win the job.  i assume this is for competition

I'm sure it is. It's going to be tough for this rookie to supplant the best long snapper in Panthers history.  Especially since he was on IR his rookie season.

I get trying to stash the rook because JJ is still the best for Christmas sake. But his contract ran out so I assumed it was the rookie no matter what. Hard to figure Rhule logic.

    • And this is how the proverbial ‘window’ is created. You go 2 CONSECUTIVE drafts where you have to hit on your first 2 picks, but you also strike gold on a few later round guys as well. Over the course of a couple years, you’ve loaded the team up with 5+ studs (on rookie contracts) who raise the level of play of everyone around them. If there is a franchise QB in place already, a legacy is now possible.  The TIMING of hitting on the right kind of talent is crucial. Hitting on a stud here and there every few years actually HURTS the team. Just by their high level of play, the team may win 2+ games they had no business winning, and really screw up draft position. Now the team is stuck in draft purgatory, constantly missing out on a top 5 pick.  This team is close to having the must have spots filled. QB (controversial), LT (controversial), WR, center (TBD), edge, DT and corner. These are the spots the real contenders are deep at.  Draft teachable, high motor, healthy 5 star performers from top 15 schools who show up to play every Saturday and play like they actually love the game. Just imagine the boost that hitting on 2 stud edge guys AND an LT over the course of 2 years.  Stop this dumbass wasted 2nd round pick from eastern Idaho state tweener project safety who had 1 good year after coming back from a season ending knee injury, but he impressed at the combine…. And this is exactly what this draft was.
    • CRA, honestly I think you're giving other QBs too much credit. WRs bail out their QB more times than not in tight coverage. Yes, sometimes it's a perfectly placed ball that only the receiver can get to. But the receiver still has to make the play. QBs just give them a chance - trust factor. In that last game against ATL, Penix threw a lot of passes he had no business throwing. His recievers made play after play for him - that and our secondary had zero ball skills. That's normally how it goes.  Panthers rarely have guys running wide open through defenses, so most passes are contested due to tight coverage not necessarily bad ball placement. It was that way for most of Cam's career. That's why Darnold struggled so much. That's why things got difficult for Baker. That's the difference in Carolina. And that's why they chose TMac instead of an Edge.  Bryce was trying to wait on a guy to get open, or get in a position where he could throw them open. That, mixed with a bad oline, was why he struggled so much early and lost confidence. Difficult ask for a rookie QB. Hopefully he's figured it out going into his 3rd season.
    • That hasn't been the Steelers way. They just keep being above .500 while not being able to draft a QB and they won't do a mega deal it takes to get in position to draft a QB either. They have tried the duds that fall to them and are available to them in free agency but that's it. They don't reload either, just stay above .500 while not being close to contenders. It's crazy they can't lure a half decent QB in free agency because they are set up to win but nothing. This year they even took a swing at a toxic and washed Rogers. They just don't reload because it goes agaisnt what keeps them above .500 for so many years now. If they did then they would have to get rid of a lot more than an idiot WR to get into a position for a top QB next year. Wilson stank last year and they still won 10 games lol.
