Tepper hired a private investigator to look into Deshaun Watson

There's two positives from the Watson thing.

If everything works out Friday, we will have a chance to get Watson. And very well will get Watson. Thus, the fan base will want to watch games and be rejuvenated.

If that doesn't happen, and we don't trade for Watson. We will suck this year, and Rhule will be fired. I'm not seeing how this isn't a win/win for the fanbase as a whole.

If you need to hire a PI to investigate a player he’s probably not worth trading for

Tepper probably has a PR firm ready to clean up Watson’s image too

They would have to be the best PR firm in history. Michael Jackson was never convicted of anything and settled his civil suits out of court. How many us would have let our 10 year old sons go over to his ranch to hang out?  No matter how you twist or spin this, unless Watson is cleared criminally and civilly, trading for him is going to put off a lot of people. This is a monumentally terrible idea.

Tepper is probably guilty of insider trading at some point in his career that probably wouldn’t be impossible to prove. Any unscrupulous personal misgivings might be a little more tricky. But hey look at Richardson!

There is a 0.0% chance that anyone would know this.  Calling total BS

Plenty of people would know, people talk, you have people who work for the panthers, people who associate with the private investigator and people who the private investigator has contacted who could have talked. I mean it makes sense for Tepper to do this if he’s serious about getting Watson. You want to know everything you can before trading for him.

If the private investigator came back and said anything different than "there's a whole lot of allegations and no resolutions yet" then they need to can that investigator. The NFL investigation isn't even finished, and that could result in anything from clearing the man to a multi-year suspension.

Yea I think it’s entirely plausible for Tepper to have hired a PI to check out Watson. It’s not even something that would have been a secret. The attorneys in the case both have PIs investigating each side and investigating the accusers and defendant. Tepper’s PI could have just acted like he’s gathering evidence about the case. There are no laws about deceptive practices in private investigating. My biggest concern is what the PI actually found, and if it’s not as bad as what the public is perceiving about the accusations, how did Watson still sit out an entire season and his charges go before a judge, and why does Tepper still want to trade for him?

I can see him getting Watson and kicking back with him making jokes about it

Talk about a culture change...imagine the guys who will want to come here because we are open to their 'interests' and after creating a safe space for our fanchise QB to do his thing.

It's soooo bad yet some are already excited about the direction. 90's Cowboys without the winning incoming.
