big Saints / Eagles trade

The Saints just lost Terron Armstead and Michael Thomas has basically been a non-factor. My gut says they're targeting a LT and a WR and think they can get them both in the teens. Think Penning and either Treylon Burks, London, or Wilson (if for some reason Wilson falls).

It’s a big gamble on Winston then. They are going to have trouble drafting one without a first next year if Winston struggles…

Saints now have 2 picks in the top 20.

TRADE: Eagles sending picks No. 16, No. 19 and No. 194 in the sixth round to the Saints in exchange for pick No. 18, No. 101 in the third round, No. 237 in the 7th round AND a 2023 first-round pick and 2024 second-round pick, per sources.

Saints now at 16, 19; Eagles at 15, 18.

??? I am missing something.  Why would the Eagles want to make this trade?

Honestly the giants will probably be begging NO to take #5

picking up two additional 1’s when you already have another top 10 pick in pocket is quite the night

There was talk that the Giants really wanted to move down and would like the package to include a 1st from next year.

What if Philly uses next years 1st from the Saints to try and move up also?

There might be more action this year than people were thinking.

Philly has 2 firsts next year, they'll probably give Hurts this year to prove himself and if he's not the answer they can move up next year. They've got other issues to address this year before they really need to go gambling on another QB

I agree that is the most logical course of action for Philly, I just think it would be funny if the screwed the Saints out of  a chance of moving up.

Why would you make any picks for picks trades in the weeks leading up to the draft before seeing who's available? This is honestly baffling.

Somehow they will come out on top for it. They always do.

Better size, played in a much more advanced system, called plays at the LOS.  He supposedly interviewed amazingly and broke down multiple offenses and defenses and blew away coaches with his knowledge

The real question is, how is willis a better prospect at 6 then fields would have been at 8?

He is built more like a QB than an RB and he is faster and a better passer and yet he still was a big mistake at 3 as he still isn't necessarily considered ready to be their starter. They chose an injured Jimmy G to play in the PO instead.

Calling it Saints take a QB and a WR, My guess for QB would be Pickett/Corrall/Ridder. My guess for WR would be Olave/Burks.

In this draft, they could stay with those picks and get a QB and likely a WR or LT.

They could likely get Raiman or Penning and Corral or Howell with those picks.

Therein lies the problem.  They are going to over correct with Willis

No. They aren't. I'd be shocked if Willis goes before 20.

3 first round picks with guaranteed salaries could be difficult to manage financially. Better to have 2 + 2. That would also leave them the possibility of trading up next season if they choose.

    • When Parcell’s said Bryce better “walk on water”…..the implied concern wasn’t that the tiny QB could survive being hit.  It was acknowledging he would have to be extremely special to overcome the handicaps he would face at this level.  Which he isn’t and can’t.  which isn’t just being hit.  It’s being able to play in an NFL pocket and make NFL throws from it….and that ultimately is Bryce’s problem.  He doesn’t play well from a NFL pocket and can’t make all the throws as needed.  He can’t see as others can.  Which impacts the throws he does and doesn’t take.  It also impacts him bailing and killing plays and turning them into scrambles/dead plays
    • 9:30 kick off here in Scotland, which is better than the 01:20 early hours of Monday that I feared. Will definitely be watching, but probably wouldn't if it had been 0120 as I need to be up for work at 05:45. Falcons Saints is 6pm on the Sunday so will watch that too if it becomes relevant
    • So much revisionist history around the pre-draft Bryce hype. The media was practically united in saying that if he were a couple inches taller he'd be the perfect prospect and it was just a question of whether he'd hold up in the NFL being that small. The Panthers did not create the mythos around him they were just the team that bought in. The team was largely praised for the move after and for surrounding him with what was considered an all-star coaching staff at the time.  Yeah part of the fanbase wanted Stroud but let's be real, we're coming from an oversized franchise QB who injured himself out the league. There was some analysis here on the limitations of Bryce's game but people were mostly just concerned he was going to turn into dust when he got sacked in the NFL.
