Maybe he shifts back to something more like the Joker role he was in his rookie year and gets back to excelling. At the moment though his talent appears to be somewhat wasted.

I've got to agree. His instincts make him a better linebacker. My only worry is that his build might be a bit slight for the role and I'd worry about his durability there.

Still, how he played at LB was spectacular and once he left that position we suffered.

He was an impact player at LB against the pass and the run.  I think in today's game you need someone like him at LB to cover the TE.  He just seemed to fade into nowhere last year IMO.

We’re gonna trade down and draft Nakobe Dean or Lloyd aren’t we? What do we have…two linebackers on the entire team who can play significant snaps?

It’s not like our defense ever fields 3 LBs. We’re very fluid here. He just better not be the outfielder and stay up in the box/near the LOS to make plays.

Yes. He's not a single high FS and that's where he struggled last year.

He had 107 tackles last year but the only time I remember seeing him was his interception (only one of the year) vs Buffalo. Big change from his rookie year where he was frequently in the middle of things.

This is the right call. Chinn played better at safety than a lot of people seem to realize. I do think he's better suited for more of a strong safety role and I expect that's what he'll be with the signing of Xavier Woods.

In Chinn's rookie season when he lined up at LB often, he had:

• 1 interception
• 5 pass deflections
• 2 forced fumbles
• 2 fumble recoveries
• 1 sack
• 5 QB hits
• 117 combined tackles (68 solo, 49 assists)
• 2 tackles for loss

In his sophomore season at safety:

• 1 interception
• 5 pass deflections
• 1 forced fumbles
• 1 fumble recoveries
• 1 sack
• 5 QB hits
• 107 combined tackles (75 solo, 32 assists)
• 6 tackles for loss

After being moved 10yds further away from the line of scrimmage, Jeremy Chinn had only 10 less tackles (but 7 more solo tackles), 1 less fumble recovery, 1 less forced fumble, and 4 more tackles for loss.

I get that folks love their highlight reels, but how can anybody be claiming that he "disappeared" when the stats clearly show otherwise? Hell, he improved his TFLs while being 10yds further away from the line of scrimmage!

I don’t care what they call him just keep him near the LOS, let him make plays. Funny how we did this with Thomas Davis too but I guess it’s just a problem for talented players.

We have to go over this everytime a S of ours puts up ghost stats. You know it's a bad thing when your cover S puts up 100 tackles right? And that it always because of shite lb play right?

He should be at lb 

Also just check where most s get drafted compared to lb ... Says a lot
