What to do with remaining cap room?

Yep. This roster is getting close enough where with the right new HC, we should be able to pay a legit vet QB to come here if Corral ends up not working out

Yep, our cap situation for 2023 SUCKS!  At this point, the 2022 roster is what it is.  Adding another player or two isn't going to tip the scales to make us dramatically better.

Would be the most optimal.  Can realistically get approved to roll $10-12 mil, not the whole ~24ish mil we'll have post-draft signings.  So, we do still have 10-15 mil to work with (they'll probably want a slight buffer)

Already set to have nearly $30 mil to spend and much less dead cap next year, could be looking at $40+ mil 2023 with Moore already re-signed.  Burns' contract will be a good chunk.

We clearly cleared 30 million in order to absorb a possible Baker Mayfield or Jimmy Garoppolo acquisition. Since that’s not happening we simply save it for next season

League approves rollovers the day after the final regular season games so it will be fully dependent on who becomes available/how the cut season shakes out.  But yep, if no Jimmy or Baker, we'll likely be looking at a lot of rollover.

yes but we can get a lot of money by cutting under performers - Robby, Shaq, Elfein and others

You can pretty much mark Elf and Wilson off the list (that's 13.5 mil with not a lot of dead cap)

Robbie would be 21 mil savings, 9 mil dead cap (that's + another 11 mil)

Let's be conservative and say we rollover $12 mil

I also like Haynes but he's a virtually no dead cap next season, that's $3.5 mil savings cut

That's already $40 mil obvious non-Sal magic savings (and then the big looming question if we take the "out" on CMC's contract)

Cap has become so fluid and strategic, they'll figure it out.

Re-sign Burns, front load the deal, help our future cap out.  We used to have a ton of space next season. After restructures in the Watson push, re-signing DJ, etc., we're now over the cap for next season already.

Just because we have it, doesn't mean to spend it to improve our mediocrity.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
