CMC limited in practice (ankle) but expected to play

Good player but also needs coaches that can effectively use him and know when to not use him. That has never been us.

I would be fine with a trade if we could get some draft assets for the new regime. I don't know if Tepper will allow it before the trade deadline this year because he is too clueless to make a move like this.

It was moronic to give him a record breaking deal when we did.   Absolutely moronic.

16m AVV is high but it's far from what's keeping this team out of competition, The Anderson, Darnold, and Bridgewater contracts blow.... The cap rolls over those were just sh*t money to sh*t players.

we really should've traded him. I never want to see this franchise give a running back a big contract ever again.

What a waste.

Imagine giving a RB huge money in this day and age 😬

Let's look at the top 5 RB cap hits

1. CMC - $64 million over 4 years

2. Zeke - $90 million over 6 years

3. Kamara - $75 million over 5 years

4. Cook - $63 million over 5 years

5. Henry - $50 million over 4 years

Do you see a top 10 team in that list? And leave it to the Panthers to be at the top of a list you don't want to be on yet again. It's just not that fuggin hard. Just draft a rookie RB in rounds 2-4, run them into the ground on their rookie contract, rinse and repeat.

    • Coker has earned his spot---truly earned it.  I still believe that we need to add a more dynamic speedster with high upside to the mix. Then we can really soar, provided we get upgraded QB play...
    • Coker has certainly earned it. Good for him.
    • I don't think we don't call things aggressively, for a Canales offense, anyway. We don't have a QB who makes aggressive throws nor stresses defenses downfield. He is at a career low on 20+ attempts per game and his career 10-20 QB rating is abysmal.  That will always be a limiting factor IF you are looking for a high flying, downfield offense. I am not even that concerned about it, I just want to see effective offense and we decidedly do not possess that. A large chunk of that is Bryce. I think the second biggest chunk is Canales. All the other components(XL included) are fairly minor in comparison to those two things. I am an advocate of attempting to improve at QB. I am not focused on finding "The QB." We failed at that with Bryce. So let's just get better. If that's a one year vet or a draftee or a cheap trade or some combination of any/all, we should do that. We have to get that QB better. Bryce will fail in 2026 and we need to have REALISTIC options to take over when that happens. That ain't Andy Dalton or Hendon Hooker or Jack Plummer or Mike White or....you get the picture. Be serious about hedging that Bryce bet and not just having to make do if he struggles or gets injured.  My mind is definitely made up on Canales. It's year two and he hasn't improved much, nor do I think the bones of a good HC are there. Ron Rivera got to that point after two seasons and he was open about the changes he had to make and advice he got to make that leap in year 3. If we don't see the same after next year, how is he not just Brian Daboll?
