Official Saints at Panthers GameDay Thread!

This offense is so fuging bad.

Remember that back and forth I had with some fellow huddlers on the Friday presser thread where we argued about whether the big plays on offense should be accounted for in Fhule's arguments?  My take was yes, they are part of the stats, but my issue with him using them is that they aren't a result of great scheme or coaching, they were a result of extraordinary plays from great players making the plays on their own and bailing out bad coaching and scheme.

Welp...  Hello darkness my old friend.

I'm glad we're up on the lowly Saints but wtf is Ben McAdoo doing with DJ Moore? Paid that man 60+ million and he's sitting at the bottom of our receiving list below even Ian Thomas like the ugly kid at the dance?

He is on my damn fantasy team with 2 receiving yards and a nine yard rush. It like the offense forgot we have a legit WR.

This offense, schematically, fuging SUCKS.

Had a family lunch event today, so I was listening to the game on the radio.  Delhomme didn't have an issue with scheme, but he said that the entire offense looks out of sync.  Receivers and qb just aren't communicating well.  And I agree with him.  It could be a result of new qb and new coaching assistants, but if we don't fix it, its going to be a long season.  Not every team we play is going to be as bad on offense as the Saints are.

    • He has attempted 8 shootout goals in his NHL career and made 1. He is among our worst SO guys on the entire roster in terms of career stats.
    • Against Miami, the Panthers were behind by 17 in the 2nd quarter facing a 4th - 5. Young completed a 21 yard pass and they went on to score 7 on that drive. Then in the 4th, down by 4, they faced a 4th - 5 and again, he completed a 17 yard pass and they went onto score a TD for the win. He also accounted for 2 of the 3 TD's.  As I said, he got them in that mess and no doubt, Rico gets credit as well, but missing on either of those 4th down conversions hands the ball over and results in 1 or 2 less TD's giving them a loss. As you said though, that's just a small quibble. The real question is how does the FO see it?  I am guessing they see it as something to build on. I think most peope here see it as a total loss and fully expect the FO to see it that way as well. Time will tell.
    • Kochetkov is just too streaky. TBD if Freddie is doing that too. Freddie is the more reliable goalie over his career. The Bussi kid looks like he could be a solid #2 eventually.  Just need to figure out the #1 guy. Same as almost every year. It's not talent, it's consistency and being able to step up in the playoffs.
