In the draft confidential it was basically Tepper looming over Fitts shoulder telling him "The time is now" or whatever to make the trade for Corral. Rhule being his usual erratic hyperactivce mess yapping on the phone and Fitt just staring straight ahead like fug my life.

fuging cringe

the dude was in free fall and our dumbasses traded up for him

College tape is irrelevant.  Zak Wilson had great college tape.  Kyle Trask had great college tape.  Etc.

I'm sure Corral will get his chance, but I'll be shocked if he ends up starting next September.  I certainly wouldn't stake my season on Matt Corral as QB1 were I the head coach or GM.

lol...like all these coming out...great tape is meaningless. None worth the cost to move up and  none worth the 9th pick.

also Notice he completely ignored the question about QB’s on the roster.

Didn’t even acknowledge them.

Thats what he should do. Act like there are NO QBs on this roster and go form there. This is coming form a Corral fan, btw. Anything he gives you is a bonus.

If we draft a QB in the first especially if we trade up the coaches are gonna put all their effort into that QB. The only way I see Corral being a factor is if the only QB we bring in is Darnold

Don't tempt fate there.

Our new Head Coach once said that Sam Darnold was "the real deal" at one time.  😬

Oof.

Brissett, Richardson, Corral is what I would think will happen, though.

Jacob Eason was pick 122 in his draft, and Corral 94.  Just a year apart, and Eason was drafted by, you guessed it, Frank Reich.  Tighter mechanics, better arm, more traditional, so not the mold he speaks to, but I think there's a fair shot Eason ends up ahead of Corral come preseason.

I'm not dissing Corral but he's closer to the PS than the active-53 at this point.

We'll resign Darnold for back up money, look at Corral as the immediate future and I'm thinking we will take a wing at Georgia QB Stetson Bennett late in the draft as his drunk and disorderly arrest is really going to drive his draft stock down -- like fourth or fifth rounders.

We'll snag the best DE, TE or DB available on the board at nine or might trade back to someone willing to  take a big risk on one of the remaining fourth or fifth top ranked QB available at that time.

I didnt see it to start, but it seems the future signing contract of Eason was a sign

Signed QB Jacob Eason to reserve/future contract

Hate to help wilks lawsuit, but that does look like a choice was made and they are trying to get ahead...... sure they can claim he was on the team at some point, yes......but he was also cut and hadnt been on PS for weeks. hmmmmTinfoil Hat GIF by The Tick

The way I look at it, you just can't bank on this kid but you definitely give him a good hard look this summer.  He's on contract so see what you've got.

Elsewhere, Darnold has as much experience in our TBD offense as anyone available and the FA is a bit average at best.  Especially when you look past the guys I can't imagine coming here (Geno-SEA return, D Jones-NYG return, Baker, Teddy, and probably Sam)

It's pretty much Jimmy G, Heinecke, Brissett, Mike White, Dalton by process of elimination.

Unless you really think we're going after Jackson, Rodgers, or Brady, which I just highly highly doubt.

It's just gotta be a draft trade-up QB any which way you look at it.  It's like our only option with what's out there.  And honestly, draft 2 QBs.  You never know who clicks.

1-Stroud

A Late Rounder-Haener/Tune/O'Connell

And looking at the FA crop, I'm going to be a different here; but it's what I want and think could work:

2023 QB Room:

CJ Stroud, Taylor Heinicke

Jake Haener/Matt Corral/Jacob Eason battle it out for QB3

Haha I honestly think we go up to 5 and grab Stroud.

I see the top 5 going

1. Colts- Levis

2. Young - Texans

3. Anderson - Cards

4. Carter - Bears

5. Stroud- Panthers

Pretty sound assessment but draft position will always dictate who plays. Corral will be owed more money so they must see him before Eason.

Fitt, McAdoo, Tepper we're high on Corral BEFORE the draft so yet another reason we'll definitely see.
