Panthers hire Josh McCown as QB coach

Legitimately giddy for this new Panthers team. McCown is a great OC in waiting if we get Brian Johnson and he's poached right away.

Loving that Reich is staying true to his word when he said that he took pride in developing successful coaches. They've brought on guys that are proven teachers as well.

This will not sit well around here.

I really don't have a problem with this because I trust Reich and McCown in their assessment and tutelage. And, if their choice of OC is also someone who is a QB specialist of some kind, then I'll feel even better about what ever plan they have.

I haven't trusted any coaching staff here with QBs or the offense in general the way I'm trusting these guys.

Lotta people are down on Darnold right now, and with good reason.  However, Hurts, Goff, Lawrence, D. Jones, Tua---there are a lot of examples of QBs that people have almost given up on--called a bust--and then the situation changes, and they are suddenly better.

From the Jets to to the Panthers with Rhule--not many QBs would have survived that.

    • Apparently CSW lost his starting job to Thornton last year. If he can stay healthy I bet Thornton keeps that NB position.
    • I member him staying after practices with only to see he was wearing heavy weight vest, one of his trademarks. He also put in 10 years, right? People forget he was the ST stud that called the snap and made sure everyone lined up right. He was one of the "glue" guys that bought his "lunch pail" to work.... He was a willing solider, all teams need a couple of them. He blocked for sooo many panthers RBs- Davis, lane, Williams, foster, goings and when there was huge injuries he took over the starter duties and had a couple 100 yard games. If you followed hoover, he took the perfect RB path cause he was just a slow heavy one himself....
    • Walker likely depends on a couple of things. What exactly did Dan promise him, to start with.  How much other interest he actually had for a starter job at high pay is another question. It isn’t outside the realm of possibility that he could stay on as a swing tackle waiting to take Moton’s spot when it opens.    I can’t get myself to consider Icky as a viable anything until we see him back on the field.     Hunt seems to be a team player and good guy but I don’t think he is worth what he is being paid. I have him tentatively earmarked for cap causality in the near future.
